국문 초록

본 연구는 학교 교육에서 호응 받는 도덕적 리더십이 한국 가톨릭 교회 주일학교 교육에도 적합한 리더십인지를 이론적으로 규명하는 데 목적이 있다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위해 본 연구는 두가지 점에 초점을 맞췄다. 하나는 도덕적 리더십의 원리가 주일학교 교육의 고유한 성격에 부합하는지를 검토하는 것이고, 다른 하나는 이 리더십의 원리가 부합한다면 주일학교에서 어떤 단계를 통해 실천 가능한지를 제시하는 것이다. 연구 결과는 가치 지향성과 가치의 공유, 내재적이고 도덕적인 동기 유발에 의한 참여와 도덕적 권위, 상호 존중과 신뢰에 바탕을 둔 관계성, 공유하는 가치와 이상에 기초한 공동체성 등 핵심적인 네 측면에서 도덕적 리더십의 원리와 주일학교 교육의 고유한 성격이 부합함을 보여 주었다. 이러한 점은 주일학교 교육이 도덕적 리더십의 원리를 내포하고 있고, 따라서 이 리더십이 주일학교 교육에 적합하다는 것을 보여 준다. 또한, 실천 가능성과 관련하여 본 연구는 주일학교에서 도덕적 리더십의 가능한 발달 단계를 제시하였다. 총 5단계로 구성되는데, 교리 교사들의 관심 유발 → 교리 교사들의 잠재력 각성과 높은 욕구에의 의식 고양 → 공동체 가치와 신념의 공유 및 팔로워십 건설 → 교장과 교리 교사의 리더십 공유 → 공유하는 가치에 기초한 공동체 건설이 그것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to theoretically examine the applicability of moral leadership to Sunday-School education in the context of the Korean Catholic Church. To accomplish this aim, the study focuses on two points: an examination of the correspondence between the principles of moral leadership and the characteristics of Sunday-School education, and an exploration of the process by which those principles can be implemented in these Schools. The results show that the principles of moral leadership are in agreement with the characteristics of Sunday-School education in four core factors, viz., a sense of value-centeredness and sharing values; participation by intrinsic/moral motivation and moral authority coming from shared values; relationships based on mutual trust and respect; and a sense of community. This means that moral leadership is compatible with Sunday-School education. This study also shows how moral leadership can be developed in Sunday Schools using the following five steps: Creating interest → Arousing human potential and Raising awareness of more sublime needs → Sharing values and beliefs and Building a followership → Sharing leadership → Building a community based on the values shared.
