국문 초록

본 연구에서는 특수학교에서 실시한 시민교육 프로그램이 장애청소년의 시민의식과 친사회성 기술에 미치는 영향을 알아보았다. 연구 참여자는 학교차원의 긍정적 행동지원을 실행 중인 서울 소재 E특수학교 소속 중고생 16명이다. 시민교육 프로그램은 협동, 나눔, 배려, 공감, 갈등해결, 환경을 주요 내용으로 하 여 9회기로 구성되었으며, 방과 후 특별프로그램의 형태로 월 2회씩 한학기동안 실행되었다. 참여한 학 생들의 시민의식과 친사회성 기술을 자기보고식 평정과 면담을 통한 평정의 두 가지 방식으로 측정하였고, 종속표본 t 검정을 실시하여 프로그램 참여 전후에 유의한 변화가 있는지 알아보았다. 연구 결과, 장애 청소년들이 시민교육 프로그램에 참여한 후의 시민의식과 친사회성 기술이 참여 이전에 비해 유의하게 향상된 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 특수학교에서 실시할 수 있는 시민교육 프로그램의 모델을 제시하고 그 효과를 검증했다는 점과 학교차원의 긍정적 행동지원을 통해 실시된 보편적 지원(1차 예방)이 실시된 후 에도 여전히 문제행동을 보이는 장애학생들에게 시민교육 프로그램이 효과적인 소그룹 지원(2차 예방)으로 활용될 수 있음을 보여주었다는 점에 그 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of the citizenship education program on citizenship and prosocial skills in youth with disabilities. The participants were 16 youth with disabilities who attend E special school located in Seoul. The main components of the citizenship education program included cooperation, philanthropy, caring, empathy, conflict resolution and environment. A total of 9 sessions (90 minutes per session) were implemented bi-weekly as part of an after-school program. The effects of the program on citizenship and prosocial skills were measured by self-report and individual interview. Dependent t-tests were used to see if there was a significant difference between pre-test and post-test. The results showed that citizenship and prosocial skills of the participants were significantly improved after their participation in the program. This study contributed to the field in that it proposed a model of the citizenship education program, especially for special schools, and proved the effects of the model. Also, this study showed that the citizenship education program can be effective for targeted group support (secondary level prevention), particularly for those who may not be responsive to universal support (primary level prevention) in the school-wide positive behavior support.
