한국인의 해외여행수요와 해외소비패턴

국문 초록

우리나라 사람들의 해외소비는 최근 들어 큰 폭으로 증가하고 있다. 본고는 해외여행수요와 해외소비를 환율, 소득, 외환위기, 사스질병, 계절더미와 같은 변수들로 모형을 구성하여 그 특성을 파악한다. 환율은 해외여행수요와 해외소비를 감소시키는데 비해 소득은 증가시키는 역할을 한다는 것과, 해외소비 불균형의 조정 속도가 해외여행수요 불균형의 조정속도보다 더 늦어, 해외여행을 조정하는 것보다 해외에서 소비를 조정하는 것이 더 어렵다는 것을 보인다. 또한 해외여행수요는 실질변수보다 명목변수로 구성된 모형이 더 높은 예측력을 가지나, 해외소비는 명목변수보다 실질변수로 구성된 모형이 더 낮은 예측오류를 가짐을 밝힌다. 전향적 이동회귀를 실시하여 환율계수와 소득계수가 시간이 흐름에 점차 커져 환율하락과 소득증가로 해외여행과 해외소비가 과거보다 더 크게 증가할 것임을 보인다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to analyse the characteristics of Korean outbound tourism and consumptions abroad by resident households based on an econometric model. The two econometric models are introduced to undertake an empirical investigation on the outbound tourism and consumption abroad: The two models, then, are divided into the nominal and real model, respectively. The data used in this study consist of quarterly observations of exchange rates, outbound tourists, consumption, and income. The quarterly data cover the period 1990 through first quarter 2007. The four models are estimated using the OLS and their forecasting abilities are evaluated in terms of rmspe, mpe and mape. The regression analysis shows that the forecasting performance of the model using nominal variables outperforms the model using real variables in tourism, while the real model outperforms the nominal model in consumption expenditures. The rolling regression suggests that the exchange rate and the income will increase not only the tourism demand but consumption abroad by residents far greater than before.
