국문 초록

이 연구는 저가항고을 이용하는 여행객들의 특성, 특히 친구나 친척을 방문하는 여행객(VFR)의 특성과 그들의 높은 재방문 특성과 장소애착심과의 관계를 조사하였다. 이를 위해, 호주 하비베이(Harvey Bay) 공항에서 저가항공을 이용하는 여행객들이게 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 총 212개의 분석 가능한 데이터를 수집할 수 있었다. 연구 조사결과는 VFR여행객들은 일반관광객들보다 여행지에서 더 오래 머물며, 식사와 쇼핑에 더 많이 지출하는 것으로 나타났다. VFR과 일반관광객들의 여행지 재방문 특성과 장소애착심과는 서로 상호관계가 있으며, VFR이 일반 관광객들보다는 장소 정체성이 높게 나타났는데, 이는 VFR이 여행지에 더 감정적인 애착을 보인다고 할 수 있겠다. 일반관광객들은 장소 의존성에서 높은 결과가 나타났는데, 이는 저가항공의 출현으로 적은 비용과 쉽게 여행지 접근이 가능한 결과라 볼 수 있겠다.

영문 초록

The emergence of low cost airlines has stimulated demand from pleasure/holiday travelers and travelers who are visiting friends and relatives(VFR) to a destination. This study has examined the distinctive characteristics of travelers using low cost airlines and specifically, the category of VFR travelers and the relationship between their high rate of repeat visits to a destination and place of attachment. Using a questionnaire survey, 212 responses were collected from travelers at Hervey Bay airport in Australia and analyzed using the SPSS program. The data showed that VFR travelers stayed longer and spent more on meals and shopping at the destination than pleasure/holiday travelers VFR travelers repeat visits to a destination was correlated to their place attachment VFR travelers were more likely to be emotionally attached to the Hervey Bay region than pleasure/holiday travelers. These findings could be valuable for destination marketers to build new target markets through understanding the characteristics of travelers using low cost carriers(LOC) and the importance of travelers' repeat visits as well as their emotional attachment to a place.
