호텔관광학 전공학생들의 현장실습 선호도와 유형별 특성에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 호텔관광학을 전공하는 학생들을 대상으로 현장실습의 각 유형별 시나리오에 대하여 선호도를 조사하였다. 선행연구를 토대로 총 5개의 현장실습의 속성변인(현장실습의 시기, 교육주체로서 멘토, 현장실습의 시간, 인정학점, 실습장소 등)들이 주효과만 나타날 수 있도록 직교배열을 통해 8개의 현장실습 유형을 도출하였다. 자료수집은 경북지역에 소재한 D 대학에서 호텔관광학을 전공하는 재학생들을 대상으로 이루어졌으며, 최종 유효표본으로 120부를 통계분석에 활용하였다. 주된 연구결과에 따르면 현장실습과 관련된 속성들의 상대적 중요도는 실습장소(24.1%), 현장실습의 시간(20.2%), 교육주체로서 멘토(20.0%), 인정학점(17.9%), 현장실습의 시기(17.8%) 순으로 나타났다. 또한 현장실습의 선호도에 있어서 조사응답자들은 ‘기업체 on-site(멘토링 포함)지향 주말실습의 선호집단’, ‘campus의 학기 중 교육중점형’, ‘학점취득 지향의 정규 교육실습형 그룹’ 등으로 구분되었다. 그러나 이들 그룹간 성별, 학년, 아르바이트의 경험유무, 현장실습의 이유, 호텔관광분야의 적성파악의 인식정도, 이론과 현장의 차이 인식 등에서 그룹간 차이는 없었다. 이러한 결과는 학생들이 현장실습의 필요성에 대해 낮은 수준의 인식을 지니고 있는 것을 반영한다. 그럼에도 불구하고 호텔관광학 전공분야의 대학은 학생들이 지닌 직무능력의 자가진단 도구를 통해 이들의 요구와 역량 등을 파악해 각자 요구에 맞는 현장실습의 유형을 매뉴얼로 세분화 하여 제공할 필요성이 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of the study is to examine the students" preference over the types of field study class and to cluster students based on their preference outcomes. Types of field study formats were generated using five operational features including time of class (weekend vs weekdays), time of offering(semester vs vacation), location of the class (on-campus vs industry site), person-in-change(faculty vs personnel) and number of credits (2 credits vs 3 credits). Eight different formats combining those features were created using orthogonal array method so as to test the main effect of the features. 126 students majoring in tourism participated in the study. The results revealed that location(24.1%) was the most important attribute in preference determination followed by time of class(20.2%), person-in-charge(20.0%), number of credits(17.9%) and time of offering(17.8%). Also students were clustered into three groups based on their preference patterns, which were named "on-site personnel-led weekend class favored", "on-campus weekday class favored" and, "in-semester faculty-taught class favored" respectively. No significant correlation was found, however, between the clusters and other personal characteristics such as sex, school year, working experience, reason for taking field study class, perceived aptitude in the tourism field, perceived gap between theory and practice, and so on. The implication was discussed.
