忘軒李冑의 한시와 문학사적 위상

국문 초록

망헌 이주의 시문학에 나타난 서정의 세계는 그의 험난한 정치적 경험 및 시적 재능과 맞물리면서 독특한 미의식을 창출하고 있다. 본고는 바로 이러한 시각에 입각하여 이주의 한시에 나타난 의미가 어떠한 방향으로 구조화되어 있으며, 이것이 지닌 문학사적 위상은 또한 어떠한 것인지를 주로 다룬 것이다. 이주는 사물에 대한 역사적 인식이나 이념적 인식보다 즉물적 인식이 강조되어 나타나고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 즉 사물을 정밀하게 살피고, 여기에 主情主義에 입각한 경험적 사실을 투사하여 그의 시세계를 구축하였던 것이다. 사물에 대한 즉물적 인식에 기반을 둔 이주의 시는 ‘이상의 좌절’, ‘고독과 비애’, ‘울분과 격정’, ‘순수와 자연’이라는 네 기둥으로 시세계가 구조화 되어 있다. 충효라는 유가적 이상을 출사를 통해 실현해 보고자 하였으나 이것은 사화로 인해 좌절되고 말았다. 그는 한시를 통해 소극적으로는 고독과 비애의 정서를, 적극적으로는 울분과 격정의 정서를 표출하였다. 순수와 자연이라는 새로운 의미를 확보함으로써 이러한 정서가 극복되고 있음을 보이기도 했다. 특히 이주의 시문학에는 ‘雅·悲·奇’의 미감이 주로 나타나는 데, 이것은 각각 ‘순수와 자연’, ‘고독과 비애’, ‘울분과 격정’의 의미와 결합되어 있어 특기할 만하다. 이주의 한시가 바로 이러한 요소들을 내포한 唐詩의 출발을 보여준다는 측면에서 문학사적 측면에서 중요한 위상을 지닌다고 하겠다.

영문 초록

The lyrical world depicted in the poetic literature of Mangheon Lee Ju interconnects with his harsh political experiences and poetic talent, thus creating unique aesthetic consciousness. From this perspective, this study set out to examine the direction of the meanings being structurized in his Chinese poems and its status in the history of literature. Lee emphasized his realistic perceptions rather than his historical and ideological ones in his works. That is, he closely examined things and projected the experiential facts based on emotionalism into them, thus establishing his own poetic world. In his poems based on his realistic perceptions of things, his poetic world is structurized with four pillars, which include "frustration of ideal," "solitude and sorrow," "pent-up anger and passion," and "purity and nature." He attempted to realize the Confucian ideals of loyalty and filial duty by going into government service, but his attempt was frustrated in a massacre of scholars. He then expressed the sentiments of solitude and sorrow passively and those of pent-up anger and passion actively in his Chinese poems. He also overcame those sentiments by securing the new meanings of purity and nature. In his poetic literature, in particular, such senses of beauty as clear, sad, and commendable are usually found. They are combined with "purity and nature," "solitude and sorrow," and "pent-up anger and passion," respectively, thus claiming for special attention. Given that his Chinese poems show the beginning of Tang poetry with those elements inherent in it, it is apparent that they hold a significant status in the history of literature.
