영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to understand the career choices of culinary department students at the junior college level. A sample was taken of hotel food science students at the Kyungnam College of Information & Technology. 110 freshman and 78 juniors participated in the survey. The research period extended from March 10th, 2005 to March 20th, 2005. A self administrated questionnaire composed of 88 questions was employed. Descriptive statistics and the t-test were adapted by Windows SPSS(version 11.0). Results were as follows: factors that were especially significant to making a career decision (ie. that received a 'high' score), were the independence of the student vis-a-vis making a career decision, whether or not the student had a career plan in place, and the opinion of the student's parents. 12 questions were statistically different, and female students were less engaged in the question of their careers than male students. School year also seemed to be a factor in students' career decisions. 4 questions were statistically different when two groups of students, each a year apart from each other, were compared. For example, freshmen tended to be more doubtful of future career success than juniors. Lastly, students who had completed their army service tended to be more actualized than those who had not.
