국문 초록

보육시설에서는 영유아가 안전하고 건강하게 성장ㆍ발달할 수 있고, 일하는 부모가 안심하고 자녀를 맡길 수 있는 안전한 보육환경 제공이 중요하다고 할 수 있다. 안전한 보육환경은 영유아로 하여금 보육활동에 마음 놓고 참여하도록 하여 건강한 신체와 심리적 안정감을 발달시킬 수 있도록 도와주게 된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 문헌고찰을 통해 영유아의 발달특성과 안전사고, 보육시설의 안전사고 실태와 발생요인을 살펴보고, 이를 바탕으로 보육시설에서 영유아들의 안전사고 예방을 위한 안전 환경 조성 방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 안전한 보육환경을 구성하기 위해서는 보육시설의 주변 환경, 실내ㆍ외 환경 등의 물리적 환경 조성과 영유아의 발달특성으로 초래되는 사고예방을 위해서 영유아 및 교사, 그리고 부모에 대한 안전교육이 필요하다. 그런데 무엇보다도 보육시설에서 안전사고를 예방하기 위해서는 안전한 물리적 환경의 조성이 시급하다고 할 수 있다. 이 외에도 정부에서는 모든 영유아가 발달 수준에 맞는 적합한 환경에서 교육을 받을 수 있도록 재정적 지원을 해주고, 행정체계나 규정의 개선을 통하여 영유보육의 질적 수준을 향상시킬 수 있도록 노력해야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

It's important for a childcare center to ensure the safe and sound growth and development of infants and preschoolers and to provide the kind of safe childcare environments that assure working parents that they can leave their children to the care of the childcare center without a care. Safe environments stimulate infants and preschoolers to engage in activities as much as they like and thereby serve to facilitate their physical development and improve psychological stability. The purpose of this study was to examine the developmental characteristics of infants and preschoolers and the state and causes of safety accidents in childcare centers in an effort to suggest how to create safe environments to ensure the successful prevention of safety accidents. To guarantee the safety of childcare environments, all the physical environments of a childcare center including indoor, outdoor and surrounding ones should be designed and prepared to be safe, and safety education should be provided for infants, preschoolers, teachers and parents to prevent accidents that may take place due to the developmental characteristics of infants and preschoolers. The preparation of safety physical environments is more important above all to prevent safety accidents, and the government should offer financial aid to help every infant and preschooler to be educated in good environments appropriate for their developmental level. Besides, the administrative system and regulations should be improved to boost the quality of childcare for infants and preschoolers.
