≪대한매일신보≫ 경제소재 시평가사에 반영된 자본주의 정신과 그 윤리

국문 초록

본 논문은 소급된 개화기 시가문학, 특히 시평가사의 경제 부문을 중심으로, 그간 다방면에 걸친 질적․양적인 논의와 성과 속에서도 미처 탐색되지 못한 것에 대한 고민에서 출발한 시도이다. 즉 종래에 왕성한 논의가 있어왔지만 보다 본질적인 사상수용의 천착과 관련한 문제에 있어 그 문제의식화와 자연 추종되는 검토의 작업이 미진한 것으로 판단된다. 따라서 이에 대한 구체적인 논의와 해명을 위해 방법론적 모색을 가하여 그 반영의 양상 등을 검증적으로 살펴나가며 우리 근대전환기의 여러 경제적 난관과 전환적 국면 속에서 발생하고 적용될 수 있었던 경제담론의 실재, 즉 자본주의 정신의 맹아와 모태적 윤리를 발견할 수 있었다. 주지하다시피 한국이 처한 개화기의 근대적 위기는 필연적으로 일국의 경제제반문제와 결부되어 상당한 타격을 가져왔다. 따라서 기독교 수용에 적극적이었던 ≪신보≫논설은 근대전환기 경제영역에서 속출한 제반문제와 관련하여 적극적 모색과 대응차원에서의 경제담론을 대체․ 구성해 나간다. 그러한 일환으로 당시 불합리한 분배구조의 모순, 과소비적 사치를 통한 불건전한 소비풍조 및 노동력 공급 미비에 대한 문제들을 베버의 이해 속에서 살펴나갔다. 그것은 소득수탈기획으로서의 이윤추구에 집착된 노동착취와 폭리취득을 위한 재분배의 원천봉쇄 등으로 자본주의 정신의 맹아인 합리적 경제태도의 부재를 입증함과 이에 대한 고발은 동시에 근대산업경영정신에 기반한 합리적 경제의식의 반영 및 반증이라 할 수 있다. 또한 근대전환기에 발생한 여러 양상의 사치행태에 대한 의식화된 고발은 금욕적 태도에 관한 프로테스탄티즘 윤리가 경제영역문제에 본질적으로 수용되면서 금욕과 절제로의 전환을 당부하는 것과 상보된다. 그리고 노동 가치에 대한 인식전환 및 참여에의 절실한 요청은 전환기에 직면한 위기적 국가경제상황 속에서 노동 지향을 계도함과 천직으로서의 현세적 소명의식의 한 반영인 것이다.

영문 초록

Centered on the part especially of economy of verse on contemporary review along with the retroactive Korean classic poetry of transitional period of modern ages, this thesis begins with worry of undiscovered among variously qualitative and quantitative discussion and outcomes. In other words, although there were abundunt discussion in the past, regarding the problem of acceptance and inquiry of more essential ideologies, the awareness of problems and follow-up reviews were not satisfactory. Therefore, forconcrete discussion and explanation regarding the above, the methodological solution was added to evaluate the dual phase of reflection of the mentioned, and the existence of economic discourse that could be emerged and applied within economic hardship and transitional phase during transitional period of modern ages in Korea, or the sprout and matriarchal ethics, could be found. As everyone knows, the crisis during transitional period of modern ages in Korea was inevitable, and connected with the national problem of economic foundation, the crisis brought huge impact. Therefore, the editorial of ≪Daily News≫, which was active in accepting Christianity, replaced and formed the economic discussion from the perspective of active solution and response regarding problems of economic foundation in the transitional period of modern ages. As a part of solution, problems regarding unhealthy consumption and incomplete supply of workforce through contemporary irony of distribution structure and extravagance were evaluated under the aspect of Weber. Along with accusation of the sweating system concentrated on benefits and exploitation of property and advanced blockade of excessive profits to prove nonexistence of rational economic attitude, or the sprout of Capitalism, it reflects and denies the rational economic mentality based on the modern industrial management aspect. Furthermore, conscientized accusation of various extravagant phase emerged in the transitional period of modern ages complements the fact that Protestantism is accepted for economic problems and is used for transition of asceticism and abstinence. The desperate request of change of recognition and participation for labor value leads labor orientation under critical economic crisis of the country and reflects secular vocation.
