농촌 노인의 지각된 건강과 신체ㆍ정신ㆍ사회적 건강의 관련성에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 연령이 증가함에 따라 건강을 지각하는 방식이 어떻게 달라지는지를 살펴보기 위해 수행되었다. 이를위해 본 연구에서는 중년후기, 노년 전기, 노년 후기의 연령 집단들이 스스로의 건강을 어떻게 평가하고 있으며, 각 연령 집단에 따라 신체ㆍ정신ㆍ사회적 건강 중에서 어떠한 요인이 지각된 건강에 영향을 미치는지를 살펴보았다. 연구에 사용된 자료는 농촌노인에 관한 대표성 있는 자료로서 본 연구에서는 이중 55세 이상 응답자 1219명이 분석되었다. 각 연령집단이 스스로의 건강을 어떻게 평가하는지를 살펴본 결과, 노년 후기 집단이 세 집단 가운에 가장 건강상태를 나쁘게 지각하였고 반면에 중년 후기 집단은 스스로의 건강상태를 좋다고 평가하여 연령이 증가할수륵 스스로의 건강을 부정적으로 평가하는 것으로 나타났다. 연령집단별로 어떠한 요소들이 지각된 건강에 영향을 미치는지를 살펴보면, 연령 집단간에 따라 지각된 건강의 결정요인들이 다르게 나타났다. 중년 후기 집단에서는 신체적 건강특성이 건강을 지각하는데 중요한 영향을 미쳤다. 반면에 노년 후기 집단에서는 신체적 건강과 함께 경제 상태, 배우자 유무, 사회적인 활동정도 그리고 사회접촉 빈도가 영향을 미쳤다. 이는 고령 노인인 경우 그들의 건강을 지각하는데 사회적인 건강과 그들의 상황적 특성이 중요한 요소로 반영되고 있음을 의미한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the differences in the relationship between self-rated health and physical, mental and social health among three distinctive age groups-the middle life, the young-old and the old-old. For that purpose, we examined how the three aged groups assessed their health status, how self-rated health reflected the multi-dimensions of health(physical, mental and social health) and whether there were differences in reflection pattern among three age groups. Data were gathered from the representative sample of middle aged and elderly in rural Korea, using the structured questionnaire. The main results were as follows. First, differences among the three groups in self-rated health seemed to be apparent. The respondents belong to the old-old group perceived their health more negatively than the respondents belong to the other two groups. Second, the relative influences of physical, mental, and social health on self-rated health among three groups were different. In the case of the middle -aged, physical health factors were the only factors associated with self-rated health. However, in the old-old group, not only the physical health but social health factor, economic status and marriage status showed significant effects on self-rated health. These results suggested that having diverse activities and social relationships could help the old-old realize them as healthy person.
