간호사들의 노인에 대한 지식 및 태도

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 간호사들의 노화와 관련된 지식 및 노인에 대한 태도를 알아보고, 노인에 대한 태도에 영향을 미치는 요인을 알아보기 위함이다. 구조화된 설문지를 통해 일 종합병원에 근무하는 간호사 221명을 대상으로 자료를 수집하였다. 간호사들의 노화과정에 대한 지식수준은 비교적 낮은 것으로 나타났다. FAQ I에 대한 평균정답률은 52.4%였다. 특히 심리적 및 가족 사회적인 영역에서의 지식이 신체적/생리적 영역에 대한 지식에 비해 많이 부족한 것으로 나타났다. 편견점수를 계산했을때 부정적인 편견이 긍정적인 편견보다 더 심한 것으로 나타났다. 대상자들의 노인에 대한 태도점수는 중립적인 범위 내에 있었지만, 중립적인 범위를 벗어나 부정적인 태도 범위에 있는 문항의 수가 긍정적인 태도 범위에 있는 문항의 수보다 더 많았다. 노인대상자들에 대한 간호사들의 선호도도 매우 낮았다. 지식점수와 태도점수는 통계적으로 유의한 상관관계가 있었다. 즉 간호사들의 지식점수가 높을수록 노인에 대한 태도는 긍정적인 것으로 나타났다. 간호사들의 노인에 대한 태도는 현재 동거노인과의 관계가 좋을수록 그리고 노인에 대한 지식점수가 높을수록 긍정적인 것으로 나타났다. 간호사들의 지식정도가 태도를 설명하는데 23％의 설명력이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 간호사들을 대상으로 노인간호에 대한 지식을 향상시키고 긍정적인 태도를 증가시킬 수 있는 다양한 보수교육 프로그램의 개발 및 긍정적인 태도를 지속적으로 유지, 강화하기 위해 정기적인 프로그램의 적용이 요구된다. 노인간호와 관련된 교육 및 연구에 대한 앞으로의 방향이 제시되었다.

영문 초록

The purposes of this study were to investigate the nurses' knowledge and attitudes and to identify the predictors of nurses' attitudes toward the elderly. Data was collected from 221 nurses in a general hospital using structured questionnaires. The level of nurses' knowledge was relatively low. The average FAQ I score for nurses in this study was 52.4%. Moreover, the average scores of psychological dimension and family/sociological dimension were lower than those of physical/physiological dimension. Negative biases were prevalent when compute the biased scores. Nurses also reported a little preference for working with older patients. Although the average attitude score was in a neutral range, the number of items in a negative attitude score range were more than those of in a positive attitude score range. The correlation between knowledge and attitudes was statistically significant. Nurses with greater knowledge on aging reported more positive attitudes toward the elderly. The knowledge explained 23% of the variance of the attitudes toward the elderly There is a need to develop continuing education programs to increase the knowledge and positive attitudes and to apply these programmes routinely to maintain and reinforce the nurses' knowledge and attitudes. The recommendations for the future directions for gerontological nursing education and research were presented.
