연령 증가에 따른 정서복잡성의 변화가 장노년기 주관적 안녕감에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구는 연령증가에 따른 정서복잡성의 변화를 확인하고, 이러한 정서복잡성의 변화가 장노년기 주관적 안녕감에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 알아보기 위해 실시되었다. 연구대상자는 청년집단 238명(19-23세), 중년집단 245명(48-64세), 노년집단 187명(65-79세)으로 총 670명이었다. 사전 연구를 통해 정서복잡성 과제를 개발하고 청년, 중년, 노년 집단에 대해 실시한 결과, 중년 집단에 비해 노년집단의 정서복잡성이 더 높게 나타났으며, 여성이 남성에 비해 정서복잡성이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 정서복잡성이 장노년기 주관적 안녕감에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해 노년기 주관적 안녕감을 측정하는 PGCMS의 하위 척도인 평정감, 노화에 대한 적응, 삶의 만족도에 대해 정서복잡성이 미치는 영향을 구조방정식 모형을 통해 확인한 결과, 정서복잡성이 장노년기 평정감 유지에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 중년 이후에 정서복잡성의 향상은 정서최적화를 이루고 주관적 안녕감을 유지하는데 중요한 역할을 하는 것으로 확인되었고 이러한 노년기 긍정적 특성이 노년기 적응에 대해 갖는 의미에 대해 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate the age difference in emotional complexity and to examine the effect of emotional complexity on the subjective well-being in later life. Three age groups(young group N=238. middle-aged group N=245, old group N=187) were participated in this study. We developed the emotional complexity task and examined age differences in emotional complexity. As a result, there were age differences in emotional complexity. Especially, the old group was higher than the middle-aged group and the women were higher than the men in emotional complexity. After examining the effect of emotional complexity on the subjective well-being(PGCMS: non-agitation, aging satisfaction, life satisfaction) through the Structural Equation Modeling, it was found that emotional complexity was positive effect on the maintenaining subjective well-being in old age. Finally, the important role of emotional complexity in later life's subjective well-being and the meaning of positive characteristics of old age related to affective optimization were discussed.
