치매노인 가족의 삶의 질 향상을 위한 주거환경 연구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 치매노인 가족의 삶의 질 향상을 위한 주거환경의 특성을 파악하는 것이다. 치매노인을 모시고 사는 가족 12사례를 대상으로 실제 그들이 살고 있는 주택에 직접 방문하여 주부양자와의 면접조사, 연구자에 의한 관찰조사를 통하여 본 연구는 치매노인 가족의 부양부담을 줄일 수 있는 주거 환경개선의 요구와 치매노인을 위한 공간의 특성을 파악하였다. 본 연구의 개념 틀은 Lawton(1983)의 다차원적인 삶의 질을 바탕으로 했으며 이에 따라 다양한 측정이론들을 구성하여 치매노인의 신체적, 정신적 특징, 주부양자의 부양부담, 치매노인 가족을 위한 주거환경의 개선요구를 조사하여 궁극적으로 치매노인의 문제행동을 완화하고 치매노인 가족의 부양부담을 줄여 치매가족의 삶의 질 향상을 도모할 수 있는 주거환경의 방안을 제안하였다. 본 연구를 통해 치매의 종류와 정도에 따른 주거환경의 특성과 치매노인 가족의 삶의 질 향상을 위한 주거환경을 파악하였다.

영문 초록

This study assesses the adequacy of the current housing environment for the life quality of the families with demented elderly people. The author personally visited 12 families subject to the depth investigation to have interviews with the main caregiver and to conduct observation. The items about the improvement of housing environment for the families were sorted out with investigation tools to conduct a survey from the concept of multi-dimensional Quality of life. Subject of this study includes : first, the disability of the demented elderly in daily living, the burden on families to support them, the requirements and methods to improve the aspect of the physical environment of housing in order to reduce the burden; second, the influence of the adequacy to what extent the environment affords behavior of residents on the life quality of the families with demented elderly. In conclusion, the physical environment of housing has influence on the life quality of the families with demented elderly and the improvement of the housing environment is urgently required considering the fact that symptoms of dementia last for 10 years on average up to 20 years from an attack of the disease. What's most important, however, is that housing development should be conducted in cooperation with the community so that welfare service for home care can be diffused across the whole community and housing environment for the families with demented elderly can be improved in a macroscopic viewpoint.
