뇌졸중 남성 장애인의 중도 장애 경험

국문 초록

본 연구는 뇌졸중 장애를 가진 남성 노인들의 중도장애 경험을 파악함으로써 이들의 삶을 이해하고 이들이 필요로 하는 사회적 지원을 위한 기초자료를 제공하기 위해 수행되었다. 연구자는 유의표집 방법을 활용해 장애발생 후 5년 이상이 경과된 60대 이상의 뇌병변 장애 1,2급 남자노인 5명을 연구참여자로 선정했고, 2011년 10월부터 2011년 12월에 걸쳐 심층인터뷰를 실시하여 연구자료를 수집했다. 수집된 자료는 Giorgi의 현상학적 분석방법에 의해 분석되었으며, 분석 결과 총 6개의 구성요소와 11개의 하위 구성요소가 도출되었다. 연구결과, 연구참여자들은 중도장애 발생으로 인한 초기 혼란의 시기를 스스로의 의지와 노력으로 극복한 후 장애 발생 이전의 경제적, 인적 자원의 차이에 따라 서로 다른 형태로 장애세계를 경험하다가 자신보다 어려운 처지의 사람들을 통해 획득된 위로를 바탕으로 자신의 장애를 수용하게 되는 경험을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 이에 연구자는 이와 같은 연구결과를 바탕으로, 뇌졸중 발병 후의 의료적 초기대응부터 재활치료 전과정에 이르는 논스톱체계 구축, 다양한 형태의 인적지원자들에 대한 적극적 개발과 활용, 경제적 상황 및 인적자원 유무에 따른 장기요양보험 서비스의 차등 지급, 노인성 장애인에 대한 사회적 인식 제고 방안 수립, 중도장애인의 심리적 장애 수용 지원책 모색을 제언하였다.

영문 초록

The main purpose of this present study is to explore the experience of elderly men with adventitious disabilities. The understanding of their experience will provide the basic information for developing social support services for lated-long disabled elderly men. For this purpose, researcher selected five participants who are older than 60 years of age through the purposive sampling method. Participants are elderly men with brain lesion disorder and evaluated as the first or second degrees of disability. In-depth interview was conducted to collect the data between October 2011 and December 2011. The data were analyzed with Giorgi's phenomenological research methodology and deducted 6 constituents and 11 sub-constituents. This study found that participants overcame their initial confusion with their own will and effort. And each individual perceived and experienced his disability differently based on their economic and human resources that he had possessed before his disability. Also, these elderly men accepted their disabilities through watching other people who were more severely disabled. Based on these findings, this study suggests several implications such as developing a non-stop system from initial medical care to the comprehensive rehabilitation services; developing and utilizing a various type of human resources; changing in perception of people toward elderly men with disabilities; developing a program for helping elderly men to accept their adventitious disabilities.
