국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 치매 노인가족의 부양상황과 경험을 파악하고 치매노인 가족의 어려움을 이해하여 그들을 위한 교육적 프로그램의 개발에 도움을 주는데 있다. 본 연구는 치매노인 부양자 8명을 대상으로 심층 면접을 실시하였다. 전반적으로 부양자들의 치매에 대한 이해나 증상인지는 매우 적절하지 못한 것으로 나타났으며 심리적으로 좌절과 당황, 죄책감 등의 감정을 소유하고 있었다. 그리고 치매에 대한 대처전략은 주로 정서적 표출이나 수동적 태도를 나타내고 있다. 또한 부양자들은 부양부담의 완화를 위한 사회적 지원을 요구하였다. 따라서 치매노인 가족을 위한 보다 적극적인 노력이 요망되고 있다.

영문 초록

This study was to identify difficulties of the family caregiving experiences. Thereby this study was to provide the basis for the development of education programs for family caregivers of the elderly with dementia. To investigate the purpose of this study, data were collected from 8 family caregivers by in-depth interview. The main results of this study were as follows : 1) The comprehension toward the concept and symptoms of senile dementia was found to be unappropriate in family caregivers. 2) Caregivers expressed many feelings and reactions to the changes in their relationships. They felt anger, frustration and guilty. 3) Caregivers primarily used cognitive-focused coping in the family caregiving with the demented elderly persons. Also, caregivers expected to provide social supports for them. These results suggest that the effort to alleviate caregiving burden in particular is critical to well-being of family caregivers with demented elderly persons.
