여성노인과 남성노인의 성공적 노화에 관한 인식 비교연구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 우리나라 여성노인들과 남성노인들의 성공적 노화에 대한 인식을 비교해 보고, 이에 영향을 미치는 요인을 각각 분석해 이들의 성공적 노화에 대한 함의를 찾기 위한 것이다. 연구대상은 서울시와 농촌에서 노인복지관을 이용하는 여성노인과 남성노인들로 의도적 표집에 의해 추출되었다. 자료수집은 훈련받은 조사원에 의한 면접으로 이루어졌으며, 여성노인 326명, 남성노인 201명 등 모두 527명이 응답하였다. 연구결과 우리나라 여성노인들의 성공적 노화에 대한 인식 수준은 남성노인과 차이가 없었으며, 여성노인은 자녀성공을, 남성노인은 부부간 동반자적 삶을 중요시하는 것으로 나타났다. 성공적 노화에 영향을 미치는 변인들은 성별로 차이가 있었다. 여성노인은 자아존중감, 사회적 지지, 거주지역, 연령, 주관적 건강평가와 경제평가, 영성, 사회활동 등이었고, 남성노인은 영성, 사회적 지지, 배우자 생존, 주관적 건강평가, 사회활동 등이었다. 이와 같은 연구결과를 가지고 성공적 노화에 대한 함의를 찾아보았다.

영문 초록

The purposes of this study were (i) to observe the perception of successful aging, (ii) to analyze the differences in perception of successful aging between Korean elderly men and elderly women, and (iii) to find the factors including related variables that influencing successful aging. Korean elderly aged 65 and over were sampled using a purposive sampling method. Subjects were selected from Seoul and other rural areas and they have utilized senior welfare center services. After pilot testing, data were collected by face to face interview with the elderly in the senior welfare centers from April to June, 2006. A total of 527 copies of questionnaire were analyzed by multiple regression. The results showed that the level of elderly women for successful aging was not different from elderly men, each of elderly emphasizes the importance of success of their children and accompanying with their spouse. The variables affecting successful aging of elderly women were self-esteem, social support, residential area, age, self-rated health status and self-rated economic status, spirituality, and social activity. For elderly men, spirituality, social support, spouse, self-rated health status, and social activity were important variables. Based on these findings, a number of implications for the successful aging for the elderly men and elderly women were presented.
