자녀의 자기옹호기술에 대한 장애학생 부모와 일반학생 부모의 인식 비교

국문 초록

자기 삶에 대한 통제력과 자신의 요구를 적절히 표현할 수 있게 하는 자기옹호기술은 장애학생들에게 필수적인 기술이며 이를 습득하기 위해서 부모의 역할은 매우 중요하다. 본 연구는 장애학생 부모와 일반학생 부모를 대상으로 자녀의 자기옹호기술에 대한 인식 차이를 조사하였다. 서울시와 경기도 지역의 총 219명의 장애학생 부모와 일반학생 부모를 대상으로 설문연구를 실시하였다. 연구결과는 장애학생 부모와 일반학생 부모 모두, 자녀의 자기옹호기술에 대하여 전반적으로 높은 중요도 인식에 비해, 낮은 수준의 실행도 인식을 나타냈다. 구체적으로 장애학생 부모는 자녀의 장애정도가 중도 일수록, 낮은 중요도와 실행도 인식을 나타냈다. 일반학생 부모는 자녀의 자기옹호기술에 대해 전반적으로 장애학생 부모보다 더 높은 수준으로 중요도와 실행도를 인식하고 있었다. 연구결과를 바탕으로 자녀의 자기옹호기술에 대한 부모 교육의 확대와 자기옹호기술 지도 프로그램 개발 등의 시사점을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

Self-advocacy skill is an essential skill for all students to have control of their lives and to make right decision, Therefore, parents’ role is very important in learning and improving this skill. This study analyzed the difference of perception on child’s self-advocacy skill between the parents of students with and without disabilities. Total of 219 parents of student with and without disabilities from Seoul and Gyeonggi-do answered questionnaires for this study. The results showed that recognition on importance of self-advocacy was relatively high but the performance was low for both parents groups. Specifically, the parents of student with disabilities showed lower recognition on importance and performance as the children have more severe disability. The parents of student without disabilities, in general, recognized importance and performance in higher level than the parents of student with disabilities. Results of this study suggests expansion of parent education program on child’s self-advocacy and development of technical guidance for self-advocacy education.
