영문 초록

Monk Stupa, a Buddhist statue of a monk's tomb, flourished from the 9th century when Son buddihsm was introduced and showed integrity from the the begining based on the technique that had dealt with stones before. Seeing from the existing stupas, Monk Stupa originatred from 〈Gingensagi Monk Stupa〉 and octagonal-shaped pavilion stupas, developed and regressed through special-shaped stupas, stone bell-shaped stupas and etc. 〈Treasure Nos. 135 Monk Stupa〉 kept in Kyungpook National Uninversity Museum, which this paper goes over, has unknown origin, was designated as one of national treasures in 1963 after transferred there in 1956 〈Treasure Nos. 135 Monk Stupa〉 is made up of square foundation stone, hadasuk, sungdasuk sculptured with dragon design, sangdasuk scuptured with angran, octagonal body stone, a stone light-shaped roof stone, and roof top stone with bogesuk only. This stupa seems to have existed near Namhan river since it has similarities with the stupas that was built there. Judging from the arragement of stylobate part bukran, turtle and dragon design, flying-cloud design, carving technique of Vaishravana. It is also esteemed to have been built around 930. It is undeniable that stupas reflect regional nature but it is certain that stupas in the same region have their own characteristics. The variation and recreation of stupas paved the way for the stupas of 10th century and after. Like this stupa, some stupas were taken away from the original place and has not been matched with their monuments. Hopefully, they could be located in their origin.
