생활시설에서의 학대피해경험이 장애인의 자아존중감과 퇴소 후 사회참여에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구는 생활시설에서의 학대피해경험이 자아존중감을 매개로 퇴소 후 사회참여에 미치는 효과를 분석하는 데 목적이 있다. 연구대상은 과거 생활시설에 거주한 경험이 있는 퇴소 장애인 205명을 대상으로 하였으며, 구조방정식 모형을 통해 결과를 분석하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 학대피해경험은 퇴소 후 사회참여에 부(-)적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 학대피해경험은 자아존중감의 2요인 중 긍정적 자존감형성에는 부(-)적 영향을 그리고 부정적 자존감형성에는 정(+)적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 자아존중감의 2요인 중 긍정적 자존감은 학대가 사회참여에 미치는 영향을 매개하는 것으로 나타났으며, 부정적 자존감은 매개하지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 연구결과는 퇴소장애인의 사회참여를 활성화시키는 데 있어서 생활시설에서의 학대를 예방하고 금지하는 실천적 노력의 필요성을 보여주고 있다. 또한 퇴소 후 지역사회에서 생활하고 있는 학대피해경험이 있는 장애인들을 위한 개입도 중요하다는 것을 시사해주고 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of the study is to analyze the mediating effects of self-esteem(positive self-esteem and negative self-esteem) on the relationship between experience of abuse in institution and the social participation of persons with disabilities discharged from institution in South Korea. Furthermore, it is to explore whether these effects are moderated by their duration of residence and discharged duration. The research data was gathered by collecting from services users recruited from thirty-seven disability organizations and centers. The samples of the study consisted of 205 persons with disabilities who had experience to been lived in an institution. To test the proposed model, the study employed structural equation modeling(SEM). The findings of the study are as follows. First, experiences of abuse exerted the negative effects on the social participation discharged from institution. Second, experiences of abuse exerted the negative effects on positive self-esteem and the positive effects on negative self-esteem. Third, experiences of abuse had an indirect effect on the social participation through positive self-esteem. On the basis of these results, this study provided the suggestions for social work practice for some strategies of preventing an abuse in institution and of improving the social participation of persons with disabilities discharged from institution.
