국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 중국 예술의 창작과 이론 및 비평의 중요한 미학범주인 의경(意境)에 대하여 고찰하여 그 연원을 밝히고, 이러한 의경이 산수화에 구현되는 과정과 내용을 살펴봄으로써, 오늘날 산수화의 창작과 감상에서도 그 의미가 유효한가를 살펴보는 데 있다. 의경은 중국예술의 최고의 경지인 바, 의경이란 정경이 서로 융합되어 나타나는 예술형상이며 작가의 주관감정과 객관물경(客觀物景)이 합일되어 형성된 예술경계로써, 의경의 범주는 중국인들이 우주, 인생, 예술, 심미에 대한 깊은 체험과 사고를 내포하고 있으며 풍부하고 다양한 사상을 포함하고 있다. 이러한 의경이 생성되는 과정은 구체적이고 유한한 물상, 사건, 정경(情景)을 초월하여 무한한 시간과 공간에 진입함으로써 유한한 상(象)으로부터 상(象) 밖의 상(象)으로 추향(趨向)하는 데 이르는 것이다. 그러므로 중국산수화의 진정한 정신은 자연물상을 그대로 모사하는데 있는 것이 아니라 작가의 흉금, 기상과 우주의 도(道)를 표현하는데 있으며 이로 인해 화가들은 형사(形似)의 속박을 벗어날 수 있었으며 이는 바로 화면상의 ‘상외지상(象外之象)’의 생성이라는 의경요구에 일치시킬 수 있었다. 또한 산수화 의경의 표현은 상외지상으로 전달될 뿐 아니라, 화면의 여백을 중요시하여 실을 허로 바꾸고 허실을 겸비하여 유한으로 무한을 표현하는 목적에 이르도록 한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this thesis is to trace the origin by an inquiry into Yijing which is quite important esthetic category for Chinese arts' creation, theory and criticism. In addition, by looking closely at the process and details of how these Yijing is realized, we will look at how this concept can be valid to the creation and appreciation of modern Eastern landscape painting. Yijing as the highest level of Chinese arts refers to artistic forms appearing in combination of feeling and setting and artistic boundaries formed by combining artists' subjective emotions and objective objects and views. It implies Chinese people's profound experiences and ideas on universe, life, arts, and esthetics, and contains rich and various ideas. The process of generating such Yijing is reaching the trend from limited images to images outside images, by transcending concrete and limited objects, cases, and scenes and entering into unlimited time and space. Therefore, the true spirit of Chinese landscape painting is not to copy natural objects as they are but to express artists' heart and spirit and Dao of the universe, which leads to artists escape from similar shapes and agrees with requirements of Yijing that is the very generation of ‘images outside images’ a screen. In addition, expression of landscape painting yijing is delivered by not only images outside images but it helps to achieve the purpose to express limitedness into unlimitedness by changing substance into pretense due to emphasis on the space on the screen and having both pretense and substance.
