국문 초록

크로아티아어는 1990년 이후 가장 많은 인위적인 언어변화를 경험한 남슬라브어이다. 사회주의 유고슬라비아 연방의 해체와 함께 세르보크로아티아어는 서로의 언어적 차별성을 목표로 하는 후계언어들을 만들어 냈다. 19세기 세르비아어와의 통합을 통해 세르보크로아티아어의 한축을 이루고 있던 크로아티아어는 독립이후 연방시절 독자적인 언어위상을 가지지 못했던 보스니아어나 몬테네그로어보다 고민스러운 언어상황에 직면하게 된다. 독립 크로아티아 공화국은 즉각적으로 자신들의 언어가 세르비아어와 다른 크로아티아 민족만의 독자적인 언어라는 차별성을 부여했다. 순수한 크로아티아 어의 복원을 위해 세르보크로아티즘을 새로운 체제에 어울리지 않는 구시대적 상징이었고 반드시 정리되어야할 사회주의 잔재로 정의하였다. 역사적으로 크로아티아는 서구지향적인 성향이 강했으며, 이런 민족성향을 감안하면, 서구에 적대적인 세르비아 민족주의와 사회주의의 중심 이데올로기 중에 하나인 세르보크로아티즘의 흔적은 서유럽 민주사회의 일원이 되기 위해 감추고 싶은 역사적 오점이었을 것이다. 세르보크로아티즘의 청산을 위해 크로아티아 지식인들은 그 어느 시기보다 한 목소를 냈으며 이론적으로 가장 왕성한 연구와 논쟁이 시작되었다. 크로아티아의 언어적 순수주의나 세르보크로아티즘의 청산의 목표는 크로아티아어만의 독자성이 유지되었던 1918년 이전의 언어 상태로 돌리는 것이었다. 이러한 배경에서 이 연구는 세르보크로아티즘의 역사적 발전과정과 이에 대한 크로아티아 언어학계의 저항을 정리하고 1990년 이후 진행되었던 크로아티아어의 세르보크로아티아어 청산 문제를 분석하여 그 결과를 평가해 보고자 하였다.

영문 초록

This article is to describe . Language policy in any state or society is a part of the state's general politics and consequently expresses the ideology of the dominant social group. Croatian politic seek to construct a strong national identity that accentuate the difference between Us and Them. Applying this general rule to the domain of language policy, it tends to symbolically assemble all the Croat, and at the same time to exclude from the symbolic space all the Serbs. Croatian language policy obviously acts on standardization, autonomy, istoricity, and vitality, but the stress is put on autonomy and standardization. To estimate the efficacy of the journey form Serbocroatian to Croatian, it is necessary to pose the fundamental linguistic problem of the identity of language. After 1990 the croatian philologist focuses on solution proposed to the problem of language identity. The aim of croatian language policy is to draw on the riches of one's own language tradition and use it in the elaboration and intellectualisation of the vocabulary of the standard language in standard language instead of Serbocroatism. Another goal is the restoration of the traditional Croatian legal, military and administrative terminology that had beeb used in Croatia before it entered the common state of Yugoslavia, and was then replace under pressure from Belgrad. In this article some of debate on the development of Serbocroatism and the linguistic Liquidation of 'Serbocroatism' in Croatia is shown. As well the methode of the linguistic Liquidation of 'Serbocroatism' and 'Croatian purism' proposed standard for new croatian language is analyzed.
