발칸반도 지역 민족들의 성숭배(性崇拜)와 제의(祭儀)

국문 초록

본고에서 제시하고 있는 기우(祈雨)나 많은 비가 내리는 것을 막기 위해 지내는 제의행위들은, 특히 발칸반도의 민족들 가운데 구 유고슬라비아 지역, 루마니아, 불가리아 지역 등에서 유사한 형태로 발견된다. 이들 제의행위들은 농업을 비롯한 산업의 생산력과 밀접한 관계를 갖고 있다는 측면에 있어서 여타의 민족들에게서도 찾아볼 수 있는 공통적인 것이지만, 이 지역 민족들의 제의행위는 ‘성숭배(性崇拜)’라는 점이 보다 두드러진다는 점은 다른 민족들과의 차이점이라 할 수 있다. 즉 다른 민족들의 기우제(祈雨祭)나 홍수를 막기 위해 지내는 제의행위 속에서는 발칸반도 민족들의 제의에서 찾아볼 수 있는 성적인 요소를 찾아보기 쉽지 않다. 본고에서는 발칸반도 민족들의 성을 중심으로 하는 민속사례들을 중심으로, 성 상징물 숭배사상이 어떤 형태로 전승되고 있는가를 살펴보고, 그 본질적인 의미를 고찰한다. 결론적으로 살펴본 발칸반도 민족들의 유사한 민속사례들은 기본적으로 ‘생산력’과 깊은 관련을 맺으며, 이 지역의 해당 제의행위는 특히 다른 지역의 민족들에서 찾아보기 어려운 성숭배와 연관됨으로써, 성이 지니고 있는 ‘생산의 기능’을 보다 효과적으로 강조하고 있는 것으로 여겨진다.

영문 초록

Shamanic ceremonies to pray or to prevent for rain that are presented in this paper, especially we can find it in a similar form among the peoples of the Balkan Peninsula, for example, ex-yugoslavian area, Romania and Bulgaria. It is a point of sameness that those shamanic ceremonies have a close relationship with the productive capacity including a agriculture. But it is a prominent point of difference with another nations that shamanic ceremonies of these areas have the feature of 'sexual worship'. Namely, it is not easy to find sexual elements in the shamanic ceremonies to pray or to prevent for rain of another nations. In this paper, make observation of and give careful consideration to worships which are transmitted from generation to generation through the sexual symbol with cases of folk customs of Balkan Peninsula nations as the central figure. Similar cases of folk customs of Balkan Peninsula nations that are presented in this paper, In conclusion, fundamentally have to do with 'the productive capacity'. And the worship of this area is closely connected with the sexual worship that is difficult to find out especially in another nations. For that reason, 'the capacity of production' that is involved in the sexual capacity more effectively emphasized through the worship of Balkan Peninsula nations'
