헝가리에서 한국학 현황과 발전방향에 대한 고찰

국문 초록

구 소련 연방 해체를 정점으로해서 체제간의 이념대립이 급격히 무너진 이후 이전의 양대진영에서는 현재 활발한 경제, 정치, 문화, 학문 등의 교류가 전방위에 걸쳐 진행되고 있다. 이는 기존의 간접적, 제한적이고 때 로는 왜곡, 가공된 자료로서 체제전환 이전의 상대진영에 대한 연구를 수행할 수 밖에 없었던 많은 연구의 한 계점을 극복할 수 있는 계기를 마련해주었다. 하지만 기존의 ‘간접적, 제한적, 왜곡, 가공된’ 자료들로 진행되 었던 상대진영에 대한 많은 연구자료들이 알려지면서 선택과 수정, 계승의 과정이 필요한 것은 비단 ‘헝가리 에서의 한국학’에만 해당되는 사항은 아닐 것이다. 이러한 기획이 가능하기위해서는 헝가리에 산재해있는 기존의 한국학 자료를 수집하고 연구하며, 자료탄생 의 배경 등 그 외부조건에 대한 고찰도 뒤따라야 할 것은 두말할 나위가 없다. 그리고 한국은 분단국이라는 특수상황이 이어져 오기에 북한과 이전에 외교관계를 가졌던, 소위 구 적성국가들에 산재한 북한 관련자료들 은 현지의 한국학 발자취를 되짚어 보는 것 이외에도 북한 사회를 들여다보다는 또다른 거울로서 가치가 있을 것이다. 또한 향후 헝가리에서 한국학의 발전을 위해 한국과 문화적, 역사적으로 많은 관계를 가지고 있는 중 국학과 일본학의 현황과 전개과정을 참고해보는 것도 참고가 되리라고 본다. 본고에서는 헝가리에서 19세기 말부터 등장하는 한국학 관련 언급에 대한 자료와 한국학에 관심과 성과를 이끌어낸 인물들을 세 시기로 구분해서 살펴보았다. 그리고 북한과 헝가리가 외교관계를 유지해오던 시기의 ‘북한학’에 대해서도 마땅히 대체할 용어를 찾지못해 ‘한국학’의 이름으로 조사를 해보았으며, 헝가리에서 뿐 만 아니라 해외한국학의 발전을 담보해낼 수 있는 나름의 방안에 대해서도 나열해보았다.

영문 초록

As many indicators show, some interchanges of politics, culture, academical science, and economy between Korea and Hungary have been increasing year after year, especially since 1989 when two countries started diplomatic relations. Concerning these materials, we can find positive and stimulating outcome from these numerical indicators. And this is of course connected with 'area studies'. In this thesis, I'd like to try to investigate the Korean studies in Hungary as history of hungarian area studies on Korea. So I make a summarized report about history on the evolution of Korean studies in Hungary, not just one or two special fields of Korean studies, but general and several overview I focalize. Chiefly from the end of the 19th century up to now some scattered materials are gathered, and on the basis of these materials, some policies are also made for the development of Korean studies in Hungary. Nevertheless, I still have some difficulties to approach some limited materials and get another ones. Accordingly, this study consists of general overview and a chapter of some cases of Chinese studies and japanese studies in Hungary. More than anything else, what makes this study more difficult is that the materials written in a period when North Korea and Hungary started a diplomatic relationship are not arranged until now. The documents concerned with the relationship between these two countries can provide many clues to get over some obstacles of Korean vs Hungarian studies and expect the new alternatives in the future. The documents can also have important historical value reflecting the world history especially in the cold war period. In addition, with the help of those documents, we can try to find a wise way not to repeat same mistakes any more they might have committed long before.
