영문 초록

A study was undertaken to evaluate the epidemiologic and clinical features of aseptic meningitis which occurred from January to September 1993. We reviewed clinical records of 5.250 aseptic meningitis patients who had been admitted to 46 training hospitals. The results were as follows: 2) The ratio of male to female was 2.1:1. 2) Out of 5.250 cases. 1.649 cases occurred in Seoul. 1.227 cases occurred in Pusan & Kyong-nam province. 965 cases in Taegu & Kyongbook province. 701 cases in Inchon & Kyong-gi province, 389 cases in Choongchung provinces. and 156 cases occurred in Jeon-ra Provinces. 3) Aseptic meningitis was more prevalent than that in 1991 and 1992. 4) The majority of aseptic meningitis occurred in children between 3and 8 years of age. 5) Most cases developed from May to July. The epidemics of aseptic meningitis spread progressively from south ot north for 3 to 4 months duration. 6) Fever was the most common symptom (95.1%), followed by headache (77.8%), neck rigidity (39.7%), vomiting (38.9%), and anorexia (35.9%). 7) On admission leukocytosis (WBC count > 10.000/mm) on peripheral blood was showed in 44.2% and increased erythrocyte sedimentation rate (>20mm/hr)was showed in 56.3%. 8) On CSF examination. leukocytes count was in the range of 6 to 17.000/mm (mean 410). protein level was in the range of 2 to 800mg/dl (mean 47.6) and glucose level was in the range of 10 to 187 mg/dl (mean 60.4). 9) Echovirus 9 was cultured in 11 patients and viral antibody titer measurement of serum revealed coxsackievirus B5 (19 cases), echovirus 9 (17 cases), echovirus 39 (4 cases). echovirus 4 (2 cases), coxsackievirus B3 (1 case) and mumps (1 case).
