국문 초록

  현대의 미술비평교육은 한국 학생들에게 필수적인 미술교육으로서 포스트모더니즘 이후의 현대미술과 미술계의 동향과 국제화되고 다문화 된 한국사회와 문화에 대한 전반적인 이해를 충족시켜 줄 수 있다. 본고는 기존의 미술감상교육의 문제점을 지적, 분석하고, 강조점과 보완점으로 현대미술과 국제적이고 다문화 된 세계와 함께 미술계가 보여주는 세계적 동향과 한국미술에서의 역사적, 문화적 배경에 따른 사회비평적 논의들을 효과적인 미술비평교육을 위한 내용적 한정으로 틀을 제시한다. 또한 현대 한국 미술비평교육의 작품의 예를 설명과 함께 제시한다. 미술비평교육은 미술의 시각적이고 감성적이며 논리적인 특성을 강조하여, 학생들이 작품 감상을 통하여 주관적인 시각과 감성을 말과 글의 언어로 객관화하면서 비판적이고 논리적인 사고력과 창조성을 발달시킨다. 나아가 미술과 예술가가 속한 자신과 타인의 사회와 문화를 이해하고 사회정치적 문제를 함께 해결하는 세계 시민으로 교육시키는데 그 목적이 있다.

영문 초록

  In Korean art education, context of art criticism should include understandings of contemporary art, international artworld, global and multicultural Korean society, as well as international Korean art and culture. Teaching art criticism in postmodern era facilitate students to understand not only visual art but also the global and multicultural society which they live in. This study consists of four parts. First, this study critically examined the current curriculum of art appreciation through the result of one quantitative research and the textbooks of elementary and middle and high schools as evidences. Second, this study reviewed theories of teaching art criticism and appreciation in the history of art education. Third, this study reviewed the literatures and theories of contemporary art, current artworld with multicultural and international art community, history and issues of Korean art and society. Fourth, as examples, the researcher suggested contemporary Korean artists" work which have been useful for teaching art appreciation. Teaching art criticism empowers art as unique sector with visual literacy and sensitivity and rational activity and facilitates students to develop their visual sensitivity, emotional expression, critical and logical thinking, and creative ideas through talking and writing about art. In their process of art appreciation, the students will understand their emotional expression and subjectivity, their own culture and different cultures and other opinions, the nature of art and societies, and the socio-political problems in local and global world. This approach aims students to see artists and art belong to the society and culture where the students live with and live in, and to contemplate artwork as their life experience. Therefore they may acknowledge mutual understanding and empathetic dialogue within discussion of art and try to solve the social problems with artists as a member of global citizens.
