국문 초록

  본고는 조선시대 고문서의 한문 문체적 특징을 검토해 보고자 한 것이다. 검토 결과 고문서는 다음과 같은 몇 가지 특징이 있다는 사실을 확인하였다. 첫째, 고문서는 관청에서 사용한 관문서(官文書)이든 민간에서 통행된 사문서(私文書)이든 거의 모든 문서가 일정한 형식 규범을 가지고 있었다. 둘째, 고문서는 대부분 미리 정해진 문틀을 준수하였다. 그래서 동일 계열의 문서일 경우 내용 구성의 방법과 주요 표현 어휘가 서로 유사하여 강한 투식성을 드러내었다. 셋째, 고문서는 음훈차표기, 한국한자어, 한글 문법요소, 한글 문장구조 등을 다양하게 활용하여 정상적 한문 문법의 틀을 벗어난 경우가 많았다. 넷째, 고문서의 문장은 심미성과 절제미를 추구하는 일반 한문과 달리 동일한 사실의 반복적 진술, 유사한 표현 방식의 지루한 열거, 정보 전달 중심의 건조한 문장, 비유와 어조사의 축소 등에 또 다른 특징이 있었다. 그러나 본고에서 지적한 고문서의 문체적 특징은 쉽게 알수 있는 개괄적인 사실을 열거한 것에 불과하다. 따라서 고문서의 문체에 대한 보다 구체적이고 깊이 있는 연구가 필요한데, 이는 앞으로의 연구 과제로 남겨둔다.

영문 초록

  This paper aimed to examine the characteristics of Chinese writing style of antique documents in Joseon Dynasty period. Several characteristics were found from the antique documents. First, nearly all antique documents have certain forms regardless of whether they are official documents that were used by government offices or private documents that were current unofficially. Second, most of antique documents abided by prescribed sentence patterns. Documents of same category were similar in their structures and key words, showing much-stereotyped character. Third, the antique documents often deviated from normal Chinese writing grammar by using sound-/meaning- borrowing literation, Korean word written in Chinese characters, Hangul grammar elements, Hangul sentence structure and others. Fourth, the antique documents distinctively showed repetitive statements of same fact, dull enumeration of similar expressions, simple sentences centered on information communication and abbreviation of figurative expressions and particles while common Chinese writing emphasized aesthetic sense and temperance. However, writing style characteristics mentioned above are just general facts that can be easily found. It is necessary to study the writing style of antique documents in depth and more concretely. That remained as the future project.
