초등학교 통합학급의 인기 장애학생의 인기요인 분석

국문 초록

  본 연구의 목적은 서울ㆍ경기지역 초등학교 3-4학년 통합학급 학생들이 인식하는 인기 장애학생의 인기요인이 무엇인지를 최초로 알아보는 것이었다. 인기 장애학생들이 속한 통합학급 학생들 364명을 대상으로 김외열(1988) 질문지를 기초로 수정작업을 통해 최종 완성된 질문지 문항의 응답 자료로 요인분석을 하여, 처음으로 인기 장애학생의 인기요인 추출과 명명, 추출된 인기요인의 순위, 인기 장애학생의 인기요인에 대한 남녀학생의 인식 차이를 알아보았다. 그 결과, 4개의 요인이 추출되었으며 본 연구자들에 의해 요인명은: I요인 ‘원만한 학교생활’; Ⅱ요인 ‘호감적 특성’; Ⅲ요인 ‘사회경제적 배경’; Ⅳ요인 ‘긍정적 인성’ 으로 명명되었다. 4개의 요인 중 가장 높은 1순위는 공동으로Ⅰ요인 ‘원만한 학교생활’과 Ⅳ요인 ‘긍정적 인성’으로 나타났으며, 2순위는 Ⅲ요인 ‘사회경제적 배경’, 3순위는 Ⅱ요인 ‘호감적 특성’ 순으로 나타났다. 응답한 남녀학생의 인기요인에 대한 점수 차이는 Ⅰ요인 ‘원만한 학교생활’, Ⅱ요인 ‘호감적 특성’ 에서 여학생이 더 높은 점수를 주어 유의한 차이가 있었다. 본 연구는 일반학교에 통합된 장애학생들 중에는 이미 인기학생의 사회적 지위를 획득한 학생들이 있다는 통합교육의 긍정적 성과를 알리는 기회를 제공한다. 인기 장애학생의 인기요인으로 밝혀진 4개 요인과 그 해당항목들에 대한 검토는 장애학생이 일반학급에 통합될 때 학생들이 긍정적 또래관계를 형성하고 사회적 통합을 증진해 가는데 학생들이 개발될 면과 교사들과 부모들이 지원할 수 있는 측면은 무엇인가에 대한 시사점을 제공한다.

영문 초록

  The purpose of this study was to find out the popularity factors of students with disabilities in elementary inclusive classrooms. This study also examined the difference in the popularity factors of disabled students perceived by third-and fourth grade elementary male and female students in an inclusive classroom. The first questionnaire for sociometry was distributed to 27 classes from 18 schools in Seoul and Gyeonggi province toselect the top 30% of disabled students in terms of popularity in the elementary inclusive classrooms. Then, the  second questionnaire aimed at analyzing their popularity factors was distributed to 364 students who were the classmates of the 11 popular disabled students selected by sociometry. Through the factor analysis of the responses to the second questionnaire, 4 popularity factors were generated. In order to find out the difference in the perception level of popular disabled students by the classmates in the inclusive classrooms according to gender, t-test was performed. The results of this study indicated that 4 popularity factors of popular disabled students were generated and newly named as follows: factor I, well-adapted school life; factor II, favorable character; factor III, socio-economic background; factor IV, positive personality. In terms of the priority of the popularity factors, two factors including factor I and factor Ⅳ came first, followed by factor III and factor II. Finally, the study examined the difference in the scores of popularity factors of disabled students perceived by the third-and fourth-grade elementary male and female students in inclusive classrooms. The results showed significant differences in the perception levels of male and female groups. Female students gave higher scores to factor Ⅰ and factor Ⅱ than their male counterparts. The review of the popularity factors could suggest a meaningful implication to enhance the acceptance of disabled students in elementary inclusive classrooms and to improve the peer relationships and social inclusion among students with and without disabilities. Above all, this study demonstrated that disabled students could be popular peers instead of isolated or rejected students in elementary inclusive classrooms. Finally, the data obtained from this study can be used for celebrating and advocating the status of popular disabled students and can be used for widely disseminating a positive outcome of inclusive education.
