검사조정으로서의 문항대독이 시각장애 중학생의 교과성취에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

  본 연구에서는 검사조정으로서의 문항대독이 시각장애 중학생의 교과성취도에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 서울과 인천에 소재한 시각장애 특수학교와 시각장애 특수학급에 재학 중인 단순 시각장애 학생 52명을 대상으로 한국교육과정평가원에서 개발한 교육성취도 검사문제지를 사용하여 국어와 수학에 대해 검사를 실시하였다. 예비검사를 통해 학업성취 수준이 비슷하도록 검사조정집단과 통제집단을 구성하고, 본 검사에서는 검사조정집단에게는 시험지의 점역/확대, 시간 연장 등 예비검사에서 제공된 조정방법과 더불어 문항대독을, 통제집단에게는 예비검사에서와 같이 기존의 검사조정만을 제공하였다. 그 결과 검사조정집단과 통제집단 간의 점수에는 국어와 수학 모두에서 유의미한 차이가 나타났으며 검사조정집단 내에서 점자를 사용하는 학생과 묵자를 사용하는 학생 간의 점수 차는 국어와 수학 모두에서 유의미하지 않았다. 본 연구 결과는 효과적으로 제공된 문항대독이 시각장애 학생들의 학업성취 수준을 보다 공정하게 평가할 수 있는 방법임을 시사하며, 그림이나 도형 등이 포함된 문항에 대한 대독 원고를 제작하여 활용하였다는 측면에서도 의의가 있다고 하겠다.

영문 초록

  The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of read aloud as a test accommodation on academic test score of students with visual impairments. In pursuit of the purpose, this study examined whether there was a difference in performance of language arts and math in relation to read aloud accommodation as well as learning medium(brail or large print). The participants were 52 middle school students who are blind or who have low vision. Test instruments were 2005 and 2006 KICE National Assessment of Educational Achievement (NAEA) test. Experimental group and control group were selected according to the pilot test results with 2005 KICE NAEA subtests. Then, students of experimental group completed the main test(2006 KICE NAEA) with their appropriate medium(brail or large print), time extension and with read aloud accommodation. Students of control group did it with their appropriate medium(brail or large print), time extension and without read aloud. The results of this study are follows: First, students who were tested using read aloud performed better than those who did without this accommodation, both on verbal and on math. And these differences were statistically significant. Second, test scores had no significant difference statistically between brail users and large print users in experimental group both on verbal and math. According to the result, this study implicates that the academic ability of students with visual impairments can be measured more accurately with read aloud. Limitations and suggestions for future research were discussed.
