영문 초록

  Among TV drama genres, the interest in Historical Drama of the masses is not less than Modern Play. Though there are various reasons thereat, it would be originated from the human-being"s universal desire that willing to construct new order with the reperception of present life where he is living, above everything else, through the time zone named the Past.
  When the past, authentic history-centered historical drama has once appeared a trend of decentralization before and after the year of 2000, it displays the possibility of diversified changes. Among them, 〈The Daejanggeum〉, the study subject of this thesis, is a reorganized Faction for description of the cultural sensibility and unconscious desire which the modern masses are cherishing, by depending upon the historical character named Janggeum, it is appraising as a successful attempt on new historical drama.
  In this thesis, it intends to confirm the Genre Practice of Hero-Description which is selecting as the basic structure in 〈The Daejanggeum〉, and henceforth it purposes to observe the Modern Acculturation Aspect of Hero-Narration through the character embodying method. As the result of analysis, while 〈The Daejanggeum〉 contains the genre custom of the existing hero-narration, it also shows the difference from the existing hero-narration in the point that has formalized the success story of the popular hero, representing a humble woman as the heroine. Janggeum who was a court lady also a medical woman, differently from the existing heros, has put her own foundation of the capability with relatively underestimated feminine quality(palate, sense, so on), and she has been materialized as an ideal character who combined together with a manly character(curiosity, challenging spirit, so on) too that modern society requires. Since such personal quality has connected with the emotional reality that a customer feels, it is important than anything else in the side of assurance of the popularity. Furthermore, because the hero-narration renders the sense of the real to the specific character named as Hero, the construction of the probability for narration development is quite complicate. In order to solve such problem, 〈The Daejanggeum〉 is arranging various problem situations applicable to some lesser crisis. Such minor crisis impended to Janggeum becomes an opportunity to verify her own quality as well as to foster her ability, and also does the revealing function of the Sense of Values and Weltanschauung the character cherishes.
  In embodiment of characters of both the helper and antagonist, and in viewpoint that 〈The Daejanggeum〉 does not only standstill at functional expression, but also arranges the round character, it keeps the discriminative character against the existing hero-narration.
  Likewise, 〈The Daejanggeum〉 has presented the New Character Type that those society people were demanding at the days through the diversified character embodiment method, and it could be said as it was the significant attempt in the viewpoint that opened a new value-prospect through its rearrangement of the existing values.
