어머니에 의한 중도 뇌성마비 유아의 비상징적 의사소통 중재 효과

국문 초록

  이 연구는 중도 뇌성마비 유아들의 의사소통 기술 향상을 위해 어머니가 중재를 실시하였을 때, 장애 유아들의 비상징적 의사소통 기술과 어머니의 중재 만족도에 어떻게 영향을 미치는지를 알아보고자 하였다. 연구는 비상징적 의사소통을 하는 만 4-6세의 취학 전 중도 뇌성마비 유아와 그의 어머니 3쌍을 대상으로 비동시적 대상자간 중다 기초선 설계로 이루어졌다. 어머니 면담과 관찰을 통해 장애유아에 대한 자료를 수집ㆍ분석한 후, 어머니와 함께 중재 계획을 수립하여 유치원과 가정에서 총 12회기의 중재가 이루어졌다. 연구 결과 유아들의 신체적, 인지적, 환경적 특성을 고려한 비상징적 의사소통 중재는 중도장애 유아들의 의사소통 기술(사물 및 행위 요구하기와 거절하기)의 발생 빈도를 향상시켰으며, 어머니들의 중재 만족도 또한 높게 평가되었다. 이 연구는 그림이나 전자적인 기기를 이용한 의사소통 도구와 상징체계의 적용에 중점을 두고 지도하는 의사소통 중재 방법과 함께 어린 유아기의 초기 의사소통 접근의 한 가지 방법으로 비도구체계인 비상징적인 수단(눈 응시, 손짓, 몸짓 체계, 음성 등)으로의 접근을 시도하였다는 점에서 의의를 찾아 볼 수 있다.

영문 초록

  The present study identified a mother intervention program that the children"s primary mothers played a role of communication facilitator was designed and employed in order to see if the program was effective for the children to acquire communication skills.
  Three young children with severe cerebral palsy, aged between 4 and 6, and their mothers(i.e., communication partners in the study) were participated. During the intervention phase, which employed a non-concurrent multiple baseline design across participants, the mothers taught their children the target behaviors.
  Results of the study were as follows:
  First, the individualized communication intervention improved the communication skills of the young children with severe and multiple disabilities.
  Second, when the mothers had chances to decide the target behaviors and intervention procedures and were allowed to have enough practices of the intervention procedures, the intervention was more effective and they were more satisfied.
  The results of this study suggested that ; (a) individually appropriate intervention program should be designed individually based on a thorough assessment of communication skills and related factors for young children with severe and multiple disabilities, and that (b) the intervention should be carried out by the most familiar care-giver to improve the children"s communication skills effectively.
