미국내 특수교육과 개설대학 교육과정 내용 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 대부분의 학생들이 곧바로 취업 현장으로 나가는 특수교육전공의 특성에 비추어 ⑴ 통합 환경 내에서 다양한 장애아동의 문제를 해결할 수 있는 능력을 구비하고, ⑵ 대학 내 이론수업의 내용을 교육 현장에 실제 적용할 수 있는 현장과 연계된 경험을 제공하며, ⑶ 담당교수와 현장교사를 통한 지속적인 지원과 지도를 제공해 줄 수 있는 실무 중심의 통합교육 지원을 위한 특수교육교사 양성 교육과정을 개발하기 위하여, 미국 내 우수대학의 관련 교육과정의 사례분석을 통해 실무 중심의 교육과정 모형을 개발하고자 모색하였다. 우수대학사례분석 및 문헌분석의 결과에 의하면, ⑴ 대부분의 교육과정에서는 현장실습이나 현장견학, 인턴과정 등 실제 실무능력을 배양하기 위한 교과목을 강조하여 편성하고 있으며, ⑵ 대학 내 관련학과와의 협력이나 지역사회 학교와의 연계적인 프로그램의 운영을 통해 지역 내 장애아동에 대한 공동지원을 모색하고 있고, ⑶ 유사 전공 또는 관련학과와의 복수전공제를 허용하고 있으며, ⑷ 원격 수업이나 인터넷 등을 통하여 전일제 수업이 어려운 학생들을 위한 다양한 교육과정의 운영수단을 적용하고 있는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 집중적인 실무능력을 강화하고 연계적인 교육과정의 운영을 도입하여 다양한 수업방법을 활용한 특수교육교사 양성 프로그램을 운영하게 된다면, 대학의 경쟁력 확보를 성취할 수 있는 효율적인 교사양성제도를 개발할 수 있을 것이다. 이를 달성하기 위하여, 한국 대학들에 적용이 용이한 실무중심의 통합지원을 위한 특수교육교사 양성 교육과정의 방향과 내용에 대하여 논의하였다.

영문 초록

Considering the characteristics of students majoring in special education, most of students who began to work immediately after graduation, the present study purposed to propose a curriculum model for field-based special education teacher preparation programs through a case study of related curricula of prominent universities in USA in order to (1) be equipped with competencies to solve various problems of children with disabilities in integrated educational environment, (2) provide field experiences that could apply the contents of theoretical lectures learned form universities into the practice of educational field, and (3) develop special education teacher preparation programs oriented inclusive education that provided continuous support and guidance through university professors and school teachers. Based on the results of the case study of prominent universities and literature review, (1) the most curricula were emphasized subjects for raising practical abilities through field trips, internship programs, etc., (2) collaborative support to children with disabilities in the local community was sought through the collaboration with relevant departments in local universities or through the operation of programs connected to local communities, (3) the dual major programs were offered cooperatively with similar or relevant departments, and (4) a variety of teaching methods were applied to students who could not study on the full-time basis through off-campus or the Internet programs. Therefore, if we may strengthen practical competencies of special education students intensively and operate special education teacher preparation programs through various teaching methods introducing interdisciplinary programs within or between universities, we will be able to develop an efficient teacher preparation system that can achieve tangible effects such as high competitiveness of local universities. For accomplishing these effects, this study discusses implications for the directions and contents of field-based inclusive special education teacher preparation curricula highly applicable to Korean relevant universities.
