국문 초록

BDSM은 구속과 훈육(Bondage and Discipline; B/D), 지배와 복종(Dominance and Submission; D/S), 가학과 피학(Sadism and masochism; S/M)을 포괄하는 약어다. 본 연구의 목적은 BDSM에 대한 이해를 돕고, 효과적인 상담적 개입방안을 제시하는 것에 있다. 이를 위해 국외 논문 51편을 고찰한 결과, BDSM에 대한 이해에서는 BDSM의 스펙트럼 및 유병율, BDSM의 핵심적 특징, BDSM에서의 역할, BDSM 플레이의 분류, BDSM 플레이어가 된 경위, BDSM에 대한 낙인과 공개의 두려움이 도출되었고, BDSM의 상담적 개입방안에서는 상담자의 태도, 역전이, BDSM의 낙인 및 공개에 대한 개입, 내담자의 안전확보, BDSM 커뮤니티의 기능 이해가 도출되었다. 이러한 분석 결과에 근거하여 시사점 및 향후 연구에 대한 제언을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

BDSM is an overarching abbreviation of bondage and discipline, dominance and submission, and sadism and masochism. The purpose of this study was to help understand BDSM and suggest effective counseling intervention. To this end, 51 foreign papers were reviewed. The study explored various aspects of BDSM, including its spectrum and prevalence, key characteristics, roles within BDSM, classification of BDSM play, the process of becoming a BDSM player, and issues related to stigma and disclosure. Key themes such as fear were derived. The study also address BDSM counseling and intervention, focusing on the counselor's attitude, countertransference, intervention addressing stigma and disclosure, ensuring client safety, and understanding the functions of the BDSM community. The implications and limitations of these results are discussed.
