노인의 난청이 배우자에게 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구는 우리나라 최초로 노인성 난청인을 둔 배우자의 불편 사항을 확인하고 심리적인 영향을 분석하고자 진행되었다. 65세 이상 난청 노인의 배우자 50명을 대상으로 배우자 지수 측정 도구(SOS-HEAR)를 이용하여 6개의 요인과 27개 세부 문항에 대한 평가가 실시되었다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 우리나라의 노인을 대상으로 한 측정에서도 배우자 지수는 높은 신뢰도를 나타내었다. 둘째, 난청인 배우자의 제3자 장애를 명확히 확인할 수 있었다. 셋째, 난청인 배우자의 연령대(60대, 70대, 80대)에 따라 난청인 배우자 지수에 유의미한 차이가 있었다(p < .05). 이를 바탕으로 난청인 배우자에게도 난청인과 유사하게 활동의 제한과 참여의 제약을 발생시키는 ‘제3자 장애’가 존재하며, 이에 따라 결혼 및 사회생활 전반에 광범위한 영향을 미치고 있음이 파악되었다.

영문 초록

This study was conducted to identify inconveniences and analyze psychological impact on a spouses of the elderly people with hearing impairment for the first time in Korea. 6 factors and 27 detailed questions were evaluated using the Significant Other Scale for Hearing Disability(SOS-HEAR)’ measurement tool for 50 spouses of the elderly with hearing impairment over 65 years of age. The results of this study are as follows. First, the SOS-HEAR showed high reliability in measurements targeting elderly people in Korea. Second, the third-party disability of the hearing-impaired spouse could be clearly identified. Third, there was a significant difference in the spouse index with hearing loss depending on the age of the spouse with hearing loss (ages: 60s, 70s, 80s) (p < .05). After a discussion, the following research conclusions were made. Similar to people with hearing impairments, there is a called “Third Party Disability” that can affect the limitation of activities and participation of activities of the spouses of the elderly people. Accordingly, it has been revealed that this disability has a broad impact on marriage and social life in general.
