자신의 정체성을 찾아가는 한 경력단절여성의 자전적 내러티브 탐구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 여성이 경력단절이 되는 생애사건 경험과 결혼생활, 재취업에 성공하기까지의 과정을 통해 어떻게 자신의 정체성을 찾아가는지 이해하는 것이다. 본 연구 수행을 위해 경력단절여성이자 세 아이의 엄마로서 직업상담사 입직에 성공한 11년간의 과정을 자전적 내러티브 탐구 방법으로 연구하였다. 이를 위해 1998년부터 2002년까지 작성한 연구자의 일기, 2023년 발행한 브런치 스토리 17편, 칼럼과 강의 영상 자료, 남편의 쪽지 등을 연구자료로 활용하였다. 연구 결과, 첫째, 연구자는 경력단절 사유가 되는 생애사건 중 임신 경험에 대해 보여주고 있다. 둘째, 연구자의 결혼생활을 4가지 역할전환으로 보여주었고, 남편과 함께 3남매를 키우는 과정은 가족의 공진화(供進化) 과정이었음을 보여주었다. 셋째, 연구자는 ‘경제적 필요’와 ‘존재감 추구’를 위해 재취업을 결심했다. 넷째, 재취업 어려움 4가지는 ‘나이와 비례하는 경력 부재’, ‘애엄마 리스크’, ‘일하는 엄마에 대한 부정적인 인식과 편견’, ‘본인 스스로 갖게 되는 자격지심과 자신감 결여’였고, 재취업 성공요소 3가지는, ‘내가 원하는 것에 대한 명확한 인식’, ‘목표직업에 대한 착실한 준비’, ‘남편과 아이들의 이해와 협조’였다. 다섯째, 연구자는 재취업 성공 과정 5단계를 제시하며 활용도 높은 사례가 되길 제언했다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to understand how women find their identity through the experience of career-interrupting life events, marriage, and success in re-employment. To conduct this study, the 11-year process of successfully becoming a career counselor as a career-interrupted woman and mother of three children was studied using an autobiographical narrative inquiry method. For this purpose, the researcher's diary written from 1998 to 2002, 17 brunch stories published in 2023, column and lecture video materials, and the husband's note were used as research materials. As a result of the study, first, the researcher shows the experience of pregnancy among the life events that are reasons for career interruption. Second, the researcher's married life was shown through four role transitions, and the process of raising three siblings with her husband was shown to be a process of family co-evolution. Third, the researcher decided to re-employ her for ‘economic needs’ and ‘pursuit of existence.’ Fourth, the four difficulties in re-employment were ‘lack of experience commensurate with age’, ‘risk of motherhood’, ‘negative perception and prejudice toward working mothers’, and ‘self-imposed sense of qualifications and lack of confidence’, and the three success factors for re-employment were: These were ‘clear awareness of what I want’, ‘steady preparation for my target job’, and ‘understanding and cooperation from my husband and children’. Fifth, the researcher presented five stages of the re-employment success process and suggested that this be a highly useful example.
