중국 출신 결혼이주여성의 부모교육 경험에 기반한 부모교육 패러다임 전환 제안

국문 초록

이 연구는 현재 교육현장에서 진행되고 있는 부모교육을 재조명하면서 이주민 부모의 시각에서 바라본 부모교육 경험을 통해 새로운 시각의 ‘부모배움’ 관점을 제안하고자 시도한 질적 연구이다. 부모교육을 단순히 부모 역할에 대한 지식과 기술을 전달하고 가르치고 지원함으로써 부모 역량을 향상하려는 교육적 활동으로 정의한다면, 부모는 자녀의 양육자로만 보는 매우 한정적인 의미를 갖게 된다. 부모와 자녀는 삶의 동반자이면서 함께 배우고 경험을 쌓아가는 배움 공동체다. 인간에게 타인의 경험이 삶을 위한 배움의 소재가 된다면 자녀에게 부모의 경험은 일생을 살아가기 위한 배움의 소재가 된다. 이주민 부모들이 경험한 부모교육에 대한 생각은 다음과 같았다. 첫째, 자녀가 어릴 때는 기존 부모교육이 자녀를 양육하는데 필요했다. 둘째, 부모교육에 참여함으로써 한국 적응과 양육정보를 얻는 것이 수월했으며, 교육 참여자는 이주민과 한국인 부모가 함께 구성된 것이 효과적이었다. 셋째, 부모 개인의 성장을 위한 주제가 포함되기를 기대하고 있었다. 이런 연구결과를 토대로, 현재의 부모교육은 시기나 역할에 국한되지 않는 전생애적 배움으로 전환할 필요가 있다. 부모와 자녀는 나이와 시대를 초월한 배움의 동행이다. 결국, 함께 배우며 성장하는 부모-자녀는 하나의 공락체(community as conviviality)이며, 부모가 자기이해를 바탕으로 자녀와 관계 맺으며 함께 성장하고자 실행하는 노력이 부모배움이다.

영문 초록

This qualitative inquiry reexamines the parental education paradigm currently being conducted in the parent education field. This inquiry propose ‘a parental erudition viewpoint’ through the experience of parent education under the perspective of immigrant parents. If parent education is defined as an educational activity aimed at improving parents' capabilities by supporting their role by transmitting and teaching knowledge and skills about the role of parents, it has a very limited meaning in which parents are viewed only as care givers of their children. Parents and children are a community of life and a community of erudition where they study, learn and gain experience together. For human beings, the experiences of others serve as a source of erudition for lifetime, while for children, the experiences of their parents are a source of erudition for life. Immigrant parents had the following thoughts about parent education. First, when children are young, existing parent education is necessary to raise them. Second, it was easier to adapt to Korea and obtain parenting information by participating in parent education. It is effective for training participants to include immigrants and Korean parents. Third, a request was made to include topics for the personal growth of parents. Based on the results, current parent education should be transformed into the whole life erudition that is not limited to time or role. Parents and children are partners in erudition that transcend age and era. They are a community as conviviality that lives and grows together. Parent erudition is the effort that parents make to build relationships with their children and grow together based on self-understanding.
