다문화 청소년의 이중문화수용태도에 대한 종단 연구: 잠재성장모형의 적용

국문 초록

연구목적: 이 연구는 초등학교부터 고등학교 시기까지 다문화 청소년의 이중문화수용태도의 발달궤적을 종단적으로 탐색하고, 발달궤적에 영향을 미치는 요인들의 상대적인 중요도를 탐색하고자 하였다. 연구방법: 다문화 청소년 패널조사 (Multicultural Adolescents Panel Study: MAPS)의 1기부터 9기 패널 자료를 잠재성장모형(Latent Growth Modeling, LGM) 통해 분석하였다. 이중문화수용태도에 영향을 미치는 요인은 인구사회학적 배경변인, 다문화 관련 변인, 심리·정서적 변인, 관계·환경적 변인으로 구분하여 모형에 투입하였다. 연구결과: 다문화 청소년의 이중문화수용태도는 시간의 흐름에 따라 증가 후 감소하는 이차성장모형의 형태를 보였다. 다문화 관련 변인 중 문화 적응 스트레스가 이중문화수용태도의 초기치, 일차 및 이차 변화율 모두에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 인구사회학적 변인 중 성별과 어머니의 학력, 다문화 관련 변인 중 외국 출신 부모 나라에 대한 관심 정도, 국가 정체성, 심리·정서적 변인 중 자아탄력성, 삶의 만족도, 우울, 사회적 위축은 이중문화수용태도의 초기치에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 하지만 이중문화수용태도의 변화 궤적에 관계·환경적 변인은 통계적으로 유의하지 않았다. 논의 및 결론: 연구 결과를 바탕으로 다문화 청소년의 이중문화수용태도에 관련한 정책적 시사점을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

Purpose: This study aimed to longitudinally explore the developmental trajectory of bicultural acceptance attitudes among multicultural adolescents from elementary school to high school and to investigate the relative importance of factors affecting such developmental trajectories. Method: Data from the first to the ninth wave of the Multicultural Adolescents Panel Study (MAPS) were used, and the latent growth modeling (LGM) was employed. Factors influencing bicultural acceptance attitudes were divided into demographic factors, multicultural-related factors, psychological and emotional factors, and relational and environmental factors, and were incorporated into the model. Results: For the first research question, the results showed that the bicultural acceptance attitudes of multicultural adolescents followed a quadratic growth model. Specifically, from grade 4 to 6, the adolescents showed the increasing pattern in bicultural acceptance attitudes. However, after entering the middle school, their bicultural acceptance attitudes were decreased until high school. To answer the second research question, demographic factors (i.e., gender and mother's education level), multicultural-related factors (i.e., interest in the foreign-born parent's country, and national identity), and psychological and emotional factors (i.e., ego-resilience, life satisfaction, depression, and social withdrawal) had significant effects on the initial value of bicultural acceptance attitudes. For the third research question, however, the relational and environmental factors did not significantly affect the initial value, primary, and secondary growth rates. Conclusion: Based on the research results, policy implications related to bicultural acceptance attitudes of multicultural adolescents were suggested.
