영문 초록

The objective of this paper is to investigate the newly changed parts of the framework of contents of the 2022 revised Elementary English curriculum. First of all, the new curriculum has the characteristics of educating students to be self-directed and to be a sustainable life together as a member of the global society based on their understanding of various cultures. In addition, the effectiveness of learning is maximized through teaching and learning activities tailored to the digital and AI environment so that there are many chances to provide English information linked to the real-life context. Second, the objectives have 6 types of goals and the ultimate goal is to develop the ability to argue in English with people form different languages and cultures in order to prepare for a diverse future society. Third, the contents suggested two types of categories such as ‘reception’ and ‘production’ in the 3rd~4th and 5th~6th grades and introduced a new concept such as viewing and presenting in English subject matter. The former is related to the language skills such as listening, reading and viewing skills, the latter speaking, writing and presenting skills. The new concept of ‘viewing’ skills is related to the concept of visual image as a tool of learning English in real life. Likewise, ‘presenting’ became a tool of presenting way according to the development of media and technology. Each domain suggested three types of educational categories: knowledge·comprehension, process·skills and values·attitudes for teaching and learning in each grade.
