학교 밖 청소년의 자립과정에 대한 맥락-패턴 분석

국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 학교 밖 청소년들이 성인기로 이행하는 과정에서 경험한 자립의 패턴과 맥락을 파악하고자 하는 것이다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위하여, 이 연구에서는 청소년기에 중⋅고등학교를 그만둔 경험이 있고, 2018~2020년까지 3차에 걸친 한국청소년정책연구원의 면담조사에 참여한 9명으로부터 수집한 질적 종단자료를 활용하였으며, 질적 연구접근 중 하나인 맥락-패턴 분석방법을 적용하여 분석하였다. 연구결과를 요약하여 제시하면 다음과 같다. 학교 밖 청소년이 경험하는 자립의 패턴은 학교 밖으로 나오는 단계, 학교 밖에서 서성이는 단계, 새로운 길을 찾아가는 단계, 길을 다져가는 단계, 자립과 꿈을 꾸는 단계 등으로 구분되었다. 학교 밖 청소년들은 학교를 중단하게 되는 경로도 다양하지만, 그 이후 지금까지 매우 다양하고 복잡한 자립과정을 경험하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 이들은 가족, 관계망, 사회서비스 체계, 일반 사회 등으로 구성된 맥락 구조 안에서 다양한 요인이나 조건들과 상호작용하며 영향을 주고받는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과에 근거하여 학교 밖 청소년들의 자립을 지원하기 위해 고려해야 할 정책과 실천의 방향성과 전략들을 제언하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to understand the pattern and context of the self-reliance process experienced by out-of-school youth. To achieve this goal, this study used qualitative longitudinal data collected from nine youths who participated in three interviews with the National Youth Policy Institute of Korea from 2018 to 2020, and analyzed by applying contextpattern analysis, one of the qualitative research approaches. The results are as follows. The pattern of self-reliance experienced by out-of-school youth were divided into the stages of coming out of school, hanging around outside of school, finding a new path, strengthening the path, and self-reliance and dreaming. The participants have dropped out of school for various reasons and since then, they also have experienced a very diverse and complex selfreliance process. In addition, they were found to interact with and various factors or conditions within a context structure composed of family, network, social service system, and general society. Based on these research results, the direction and strategies of policies and practices to be considered to support the self-reliance of out-of-school youth were suggested.
