국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 내부자적 시선으로 60대 여성 만학도의 삶을 탐험한 뒤 그의 인생 전반에서 사회복지를 통한 자기실현 경험이 갖는 의미를 이해하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 진학의 꿈을 보류한 채 오랜시간을 보내온 한 여성의 목소리를 약 1년 반 정도 종단적으로 경청하였고, 노년기에 대학원에 진학하여 사회복지와 함께 자기실현을 달성해가는 총체적 경험에 관해 심도 있게 탐구했다. 자료수집에는 Schütze의 이야기식 인터뷰 방식을 적용하였으며, 이를 생애사 연구방법으로 분석했다. 연구결과, 60대 여성 만학도의 삶은 진학이라는 생애사적 과제를 중심으로 재구성되었고, 다시 진학을 결심했던 때를 전환점으로 사회복지를 둘러싼 성장과 변화가 자기실현이라는 인생의 지향점과 더불어 드러났다. 이는 총 18개 소항목, 그리고 ‘잡을 듯 말 듯 이어온 진학의 꿈’, ‘잦은 뒷걸음질에도 발달하며 앞으로 나아감’, ‘사회복지와 동행할 전혀 다른 여생’과 같은 3개의 대범주로 요약된다. 끝으로, 인생 후반부에 만학을 선택하는 여성들을 위해서 사회복지를 통한 자기실현과 전 생애적 발달 촉진, 노년기 교육 참여 및 삶의 질 지원 등에 관한 논의점을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

This study aims to inquiry about the life of a woman in her 60s who started studying late from an insider’s perspective to understand the meaning of the self-actualization experience through social welfare throughout her whole life. For this purpose, this study listened to the voice of a woman who spent a long time, putting off her dream of entering a higher education institution, for about a year and a half longitudinally and explored her overall experience of achieving self-actualization with social welfare in depth by entering a graduate school in her old age. For data collection, Schütze’s biographical narrative interview was applied, and the result was analyzed with his life history research method. As a result of the study, the life of the woman in her 60s who started studying late was reorganized centering around the life historical task of entering a higher education institution, and at the time when she decided to go back to school as a transition point, growth and change surrounding social welfare were revealed along with the direction of life, self-actualization. This is summarized as a total of 18 sub-items and three large categories, including ‘Dream of entering a higher education institution barely,’ ‘Going forward, developing oneself even in small stepping backward,’ and ‘The rest of one’s days totally different with social welfare.’ Lastly, for women who choose to study late in the latter part of their lives, this study proposed discussion points concerning self-actualization through social welfare, the promotion of lifelong development, educational participation in old age, and support for the quality of life.
