국문 초록

본 연구는 숲 놀이에서 유아들이 경험하는 공동체의 의미를 살펴보기 위한 것으로 이를 위해 G시 A어린이집의 만 5세 한 학급의 숲 놀이 활동을 2018년 4월 12일부터 10월 25일까지 매주 1회 총 20회 참여관찰하고 2회의 교사 면담, 1회의 원감 면담을 실시하였다. 수집된 자료들은 일반적인 질적 분석의 절차에 따라 전사, 주제별 코딩, 주제 또는 의미 생성의 세 가지 과정을 통해 분석되었다. 연구결과 첫째, 유아들은 놀이시작을 알리는 공동의 또래 상호작용 의례를 통해 모이고 흩어짐을 반복하면서 공동체를 경험하였다. 둘째, 유아들은 숲 놀이에서 누구나 술래가 될 수 있는 포용과 존중의 공동체를 경험하였다. 셋째, 유아들은 숲 놀이에서 친구의 실수를 눈감아 주는 배려의 공동체를 경험하였다. 넷째, 유아들은 숲에서 자신들만의 아지트와 이야기를 공유하면서 공동체를 경험하였다. 본 연구는 유아들이 숲 놀이에서 또래와의 의례를 통해 연대감과 결속, 배려와 존중의 공동체를 경험하고 있음을 보여주었다. 이를 통해 유아 또래공동체 형성을 위한 장소애(場所愛)로서의 숲과 숲 놀이의 가치에 대해 논의하였다.

영문 초록

This study aims to examine meaning of community experiences through young children’s free play in the forest. For this purpose, participant observation method was used and I observed young children’s forest play of one class(5 years old) once a week, from 12, April to 25, October, 2018. A preschool in G city. Also, I interviewed with a class teacher two times and a assistant director one time. The data were analyzed by conducting transcript, theme coding, and making meaning analysis. The results of this study are as follows: First, young children have experienced community through peer interaction rituals for starting of play. Second, they have experienced community with taking care of and respecting each other for anyone can be a tagger. Third, they have experienced community with consideration and tolerance of friend’s mistakes. Last, they have experienced community with sharing their own hiding places and stories in the forest. This study showed that young children have experienced community of togetherness, a sense of fellowship, consideration, and respect each other through interaction rituals in the forest play. This findings suggested the value of forest play and the forest as a ‘topophilia’ for creating community in early childhood.
