한국형 숲유치원의 교육방법 고찰

국문 초록

본 연구는 유아주도의 교육방법이 핵심적으로 실천되고 있는 한국형 숲유치원의 교육방법을 고찰함으로써 미래 유아교육에서 추구해야 하는 교육방법의 형태와 방향을 모색하고자 하였다. 숲유치원 교육이 활발하게 이루어지고 있는 P어린이집 숲반의 유아 15명과 숲반 교사 3명을 연구 참여자로 선정하였다. 2015년 3월부터 7월 말까지 주 2회를 기본으로 총 30회 참여관찰, 면담, 보육일지 등의 자료를 수집하였고, 각각 시간, 공간, 신체, 관계의 네 가지 실존체를 축으로 분석하였다. 연구결과 한국형 숲유치원의 교육방법은 진짜놀이의 향연(신체성), 연속적·체험적 시간의 주체(시간성), 생명의 기운과 넘나듦의 자유로움(공간성), 열린 관계를 통한 생명공동체(관계성)로 이해되었다. 이는 유아가 시간, 공간, 신체, 그리고 관계에서 주체가 됨으로써 스스로 자신의 놀이와 삶을 만들어가고 있었고, 이러한 모습을 통하여 예측할 수 없는 미래교육의 나아갈 방향을 모색해볼 수 있었다.

영문 초록

This study investigated the format of educational methods and direction to be pursued in early childhood education, examining the educational methods of Korean forest kindergartens that mainly implemented the child-initiative educational method. In “P” daycare center, which is active in forest kindergarten education, 15 children and three teachers participants were selected from the current and former forest class. Participant observations were collected 30 times twice weekly for 18 weeks. Interviews with teachers and children, and childcare diaries from March to the end of July, 2015 were, analyzed focusing on time, space, body, and relationships. From this study, the educational method of Korean forest kindergartens demonstrates real play (physicality), continuous and experiential time (the time), freedom of life’s energy and space (spatiality), and life-community through open relationships (relationship). This will help young children find ways to move forward in an unpredictable education with the power to make their play and life by becoming subjects in play, time, space, and relationships.
