기철학에서 본 똥의 가치와 의미

국문 초록

기(氣)는 동양에서 수천 년 동안 자연과 사회, 물질과 정신을 아우르며 만물의 변화를 설명하는 개념으로 쓰여 왔다. 이 논문은 사이언스 월든의 ‘똥본위화폐’ 연구 프로젝트에서 똥의 순환과 가치 정립에 대한 인문학적 이론기반을 마련하기 위한 연구이다. 특히 이 논문은 화담 서경덕의 기철학을 중심으로 똥의 가치와 의미를 논하고 있다. ‘똥본위화폐’ 프로젝트가 기철학에서 얻을 수 있는 사고는 첫째 순환적 사고이다. 특히 장자, 장횡거, 서화담은 만물의 변화를 기의 취산으로 설명하면서 모든 존재가 거대한 순환에서 벗어날 수 없다고 보았다. 둘째로 기철학이 주는 시사점은 만물 평등의 관점이다. 장자는 모든 것을 상대화시킴으로써 만물은 평등하다는 생각을 끌어냈다. 장횡거 또한 만물이 기로 이루어져 있고 기의 취산을 통해 순환 과정을 반복한다는 점에서 만물은 평등하다는 생각을 전개하였다. 그리고 서경덕은 그런 사고를 확장하여 현실에서의 실천으로까지 나아갔다. 셋째로 기철학은 똥을 더럽다고 보는 인식의 전환을 가능케 하며 이를 바탕으로 만물일체론을 끌어낸다. 만물이 하나라는 장자와 장횡거의 생각, 그리고 기의 질서가 수의 질서로 환원되며 수의 질서는 소리의 질서로 환원된다고 보고 대자연의 하모니로 어우러지는 대화해(大和諧)의 세상을 꿈꾼 서경덕의 생각이 모두 그러한 인식의 전환을 가능하게 한다. ‘똥본위화폐’ 프로젝트가 현대사회의 소득불균형과 인간 소외, 세대 갈등, 학점과 학위에 따른 교육 격차 등의 문제 해결을 목표로 삼는다면 이 같은 사고를 기반으로 인간과 인간, 인간과 자연의 분리와 투쟁이 아니라 공감하고 소통하는 감통(感通)의 세계관으로 바꿔 갈 수 있어야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

This thesis is a study to prepare a humanistic theoretical basis for the circulation and value establishment of poop in Science Walden s ‘feces Standard Money’ research project. In particular, this thesis discusses the value and meaning of poop, focusing on the philosophy of Hwadam Seo Gyeong-deok. The first thought that the ‘feces Standard Money’ project can be obtained from the Ki philosophy is cyclical thinking. In particular, Zhuang-tzu, Jang-jae, and Seo Hwa-dam explained the change of all things as gathered and scattered, all beings could not escape from the great cycle. Second, the point of preview of Ki philosophy is the perspective of equality in all things. By relativizing everything, Zhuang-tzu drew on the idea that all things are equal. Jang-jae also developed the idea that all things are equal in that all things are made of qi and the cycle repeats the cycle through the extraction of qi. And Seo Kyung-duk expanded such thinking and moved on to practice in reality. Third, Ki philosophy enables a change in the perception that poop is dirty, and based on this, draws out the unity of all things. The idea of ​​Zhuang-tzu and Jang-jae that all things are one, and the idea that the order of Qi is reduced to the order of numbers and the order of numbers is reduced to the order of sound, and is the story of Seo Kyung-deok, who dreamed of a world of dialogue and harmony in harmony with nature. All thoughts make such a transformation of perception possible. If the ‘feces Standard Money’ project aims to solve problems such as income inequality, human alienation, generational conflict, and educational gap according to grades and degrees in modern society, then based on this thinking, the separation of human to human and human to nature is It should be possible to change to a worldview of sympathy and communication, which is not a struggle, but a feeling of empathy and communication.
