노인학습자의 평생교육으로서의 미술교육 경험에 대한 질적 연구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 빠른 고령화 추세에 따라 사회의 많은 분야에서 노인의 삶에 대한 관심이 늘어남을 인식하는 것에서 시작되었다. 따라서 노인을 대상으로 평생교육으로서 미술교육 프로그램을 실시하고 이를 통해 노인들이 겪는 과정과 경험을 현상학적으로 살펴보는데 있다. 먼저 평생교육과 노인미술교육, 자아존중감에 대한 이론적 고찰을 바탕으로 노인에게 미술교육이 자아존중감에 어떠한 변화가 생기는지 살펴볼 수 있었다. 본 연구에서는 노인 학습자 2명을 대상으로 평생교육으로서의 미술교육 프로그램과 심층 면담을 진행하였다. 참여 결과 노인 학습자는 긍정적 자아인지를 가능하게 하고 타인과의 소통을 통해 사회활동에 참여할 수 있도록 도울 수 있고, 반복적인 성취감을 경험하며 미술 활동에 대한 학습의지가 향상되는 것을 살펴볼 수 있었다. 이를 통해 노인 학습자에게 평생교육으로서의 미술교육은 성취감과 학습의지를 경험하고 자신의 가치를 파악하며 긍정적 자아존중감을 형성하는데 도움이 된다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 앞으로 노인을 대상으로 하는 미술교육은 여가활동이나 치료의 일환으로 여겨왔던 것을 벗어나, 노인 학습자의 신체적·심리적 변화를 고려하여 교육적 접근을 통한 연구가 필요할 것으로 보인다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to carry out the art education program as lifelong education targeting seniors, considering growing interest in the elderly’s life in many fields in society as the ageing population has increased, and phenomenologically investigate process and experience the seniors had to go through. First, based on theoretical considerations on lifelong education, art education for the elderly, and self-esteem, it was possible to examine how art education changes self-esteem for the elderly. As a result, among lifelong education for the elderly is being practiced in various ways in preparation for the changing circumstances of the times, and furthermore, art education as a lifelong education can promote physical function and increase psychological stability in elderly learners, resulting in a positive sense of self-esteem. was found to be helpful in forming. In this study, the art education program as a lifelong education and in-depth interviews were conducted with two elderly learners. It was confirmed that the elderly learners who participated can help them to participate in social activities by enabling positive self-cognition and interaction with others. Through this, it was found that art education as lifelong education for elderly learners helps them to experience a sense of accomplishment and the will to learn, realize their own values, and increase positive self-esteem. In the future, art education for the elderly is expected to go beyond what was considered a leisure activity or a part of treatment, and research through an educational approach will be needed in consideration of the physical and psychological changes of elderly learners.
