장애인복지관 종사자의 발달장애인 대상 자연적 지원 실천경험에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 발달장애인의 지역사회에서의 독립적 삶이 강조되는 현실에서 이를 가능하게 하는 자연적 지원에 대한 종사자의 실천 경험을 살펴보았다. 자연적 지원은 발달장애인 당사자의 욕구를 기반으로 지역사회의 자연적 지지자를 발굴하고 연계함으로써 발달장애인의 자유로운 삶과 다양한 관계를 확장시키는 실천방식이다. 이에 자연적 지원 실천경험이 있는 종사자 10명을 대상으로 초점집단 인터뷰를 실시하였고, 그 결과를 분석하였다. 연구결과, 종사자들은 자연적 지원이라는 새로운 실천방식에 대해 경계와 우려 속에서 지역과의 만남을 시작하지만 점차 자연적 관계의 매개자 역할에 익숙해져 간다. 실천이 진행되면서 종사자들은 지역에서 어울려 함께 살아가는 발달장애인의 모습에 자연적 관계 형성의 가능성을 확인하며 발달장애인의 새로운 성장을 지켜본다. 이러한 자연적 지원실천의 전 과정은 종사자들이 오랜 관습에서 깨어나 새로운 전문가로 거듭나는 계기가 된다. 이 연구는 발달장애인에 대한 자연적 지원의 가능성을 확인하였으며, 이를 토대로 자연적 지원의 확대와 종사자들을 위한 지역기반 실천역량 강화의 필요성을 제언하였다.

영문 초록

This study examined the practical experience of workers on natural supports that enables them in the reality that the independent life of the person with developmental disabilities is emphasized in the community. Natural supports is a practice method that expands the free activities and various relationships of the developmental disabled in the region by discovering and linking natural supporters in the region based on the needs of the person with developmental disabilities. Therefore, focus group interviews were conducted with 10 workers with experience in natural support practice, and the results were analyzed. As a result, workers start meeting with the region in the boundary and concern about the new practice method of natural support, but gradually become accustomed to the role of mediator of natural relationship. As the practice progresses, workers observe the new growth of the person with developmental disabilities by confirming the possibility of forming a natural relationship with the person with developmental disabilities living together in the region. The whole process of this natural supports practice is an opportunity for workers to wake up from long-standing practices and become new experts. This study confirmed the possibility of natural supports for people with person with developmental disabilities, and based on this, it suggested the necessity of expanding natural supports and strengthening the regional-based practical capacity for workers.
