국문 초록

플라톤의 초기 대화편에서 아이로니는 소크라테스라는 사람과 그의 활동을 특징짓는 용어로 사용되며, 그것은 아이로니라는 용어에 자신의 무지를 자각한 사람의 특징과 다른 사람들을 자기지식으로 이끄는 교육원리라는 의미가 적재되는 결정적 계기가 되었다. 키에르케고르의 아이로니 연구는 ‘소크라테스의 아이로니’라는 현상에서 ‘무한한 절대적 부정성’이라는 ‘아이로니의 개념’을 이끌어 내고, 그것을 ‘기독교인의 형성’이라는 자신의 목적에 맞게 정련하는 방향을 취하였다. 그의 가명저작으로 구현된 ‘정련된 아이로니’는 ‘초월’을 향한 ‘실존적 운동’이 실패로 끝날 수밖에 없다는 것을 극적으로 그려내는 과정에서 자기지식과 신의 존재가 언뜻언뜻 비치게 하는 ‘간접전달’을 예시한다. 키에르케고르의 가명저작술은 자아와 신의 존재에 도달하는 것이 불가능하다는 것을 보여주는 과정에서 독자가 자아와 신의 존재를 확인하고, 다른 차원의 ‘가능성’을 실현하기 위한 치열한 몸부림에 의하여 자신의 내면에서 자아와 신의 존재를 확립해 가도록 이끌려는 시도로 해석될 수 있다.

영문 초록

Socrates is depicted as the master of irony in Plato s Socratic dialogues. Plato s application of the word irony to characterizing the person of Socrate and his life resulted in the inauguration of irony as a principle of educational practice for self-knowledge by mitigating its pejorative meaning:deceiving. Kierkegaard study on irony can be construed as an attempt to recover the truth of Socratic irony in modern age. Being indebted to Hegel s characterization of irony as infinite absolute negativity , Kierkegaard interpreted it ironically into his own concept of irony, which permitted no Aufheben to positivity. For Kierkegaard, the task of ironist is to master irony for recovering the truth of irony because his negation of the actuality of the world would make impossible moral commitment that is indispensable for becoming ethical and religious person. He mastered irony, focused on its application to the awakening of christianity, and practiced it in his famous pseudonymous authorship as part of indirect communication . However, the aims of pseudonyms is not to move the readers up to the religious existence, but to lead them to the recognition of the necessary failure of such movements. Kierkegaard s ironic communication in the pseudonymous works imitates God s elusiveness. His mastered irony encourages the readers to strive to realize their authentic self and to get the glimpse of God, in spite of the intimation of the necessary failure of all human projects. But by the educational practice as the incessant striving for self-knowledge and God-knowledge, the being of self and God can be made confirmed
