국문 초록

이 글의 목적은 인성의 의미를 토마스 아퀴나스의 삼위일체론에 비추어 밝히고자 하는 것이다. 지난 세기, 셸러가 ‘철학적 인간학’이라는 새로운 시도를 통하여 비판한 바와 같이, 오늘날의 여러 가지 개별 학문들은 인성에 총체적으로 접근하는 데에 실패하고 있으며, 이러한 실패의 원인은 르네상스 이후, 인간을 신으로부터 분리해낸 것에서 찾을 수 있을 것이다. 중세 말엽에 위치해 있는 아퀴나스의 사상은 신과 분리되지 않은 인간 이념의 가장 완성된 형태를 보여주는데, 이러한 아퀴나스의 인간학은 고대 희랍 철학의 인간관과 기독교적 인간관을 종합한 결과로 이룩된 것으로서, 삼위일체 교의에 관한 그의 해석에 집약적으로 나타나 있다. 삼위일체 교의는 양태론과 삼신론을 극복하는 과정에서 확립된 것으로 이 교의가 설명하고 있는 신인(神人)으로서의 예수의 존재는 가장 완전한 인간의 모습과 다른 것이 아니다. 인간에게 육체가 있다는 사실로 말미암아 생기는 정서는 인간에게 고통을 안겨주기도 하지만, 동시에 정서는 신을 향하여 나아가는 발판이 된다는 점에서 인성의 필수적 요소라고 말할 수 있다. 아퀴나스의 삼위일체론에서 시사되는 인성은 이성과 더불어 이성 너머의 신적인 것을 향한 정서의 종합으로 규정될 수 있다. 이러한 특성은 가장 발달한 정신에서 발견될 수 있는 것인 만큼, 인성은 교육을 통하여 궁극적으로 도달해야 할 인간의 가장 이상적인 상태를 나타내는 개념이라고 말할 수 있다.

영문 초록

This paper investigates the meaning of personality in view of Aquinas’ doctrine of the Trinity. As in the last century, Max Scheler sharply criticized other individual sciences and proposed the philosophical anthropologie, in our own time the scientific tendency moves towards opposite conclusions of human nature and fails to comprehend whole person. Since the Renaissance period, God have disappeared, and person has become detached from God. Thomas Aquinas’ thought positioned at the end of the Middle Ages showed form of the whole man, i.e., the person undetached from God. Aquinas’ anthropologie was formed a certain synthesis of the ancient Greek philosophical view of and the Christian view of the man and it was intensively exemplified in his doctrine of the Trinity. The doctrine of the Trinity has been established by overcoming the Modalism and the Tritheism. This doctrine elucidated the existence of God’s saving Son Jesus, in other words God-man, and that man is the whole man. Emotion is derived from the fact that men have body and it cause pain, but at the same time emotion is a foothold to make tracks for God. It is found in the most fulfilled mind, and therefore it was asked for education to evoke a person’s divine emotion.
