정약용의 격치육조론(格致六條論)

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 정약용(丁若鏞)의 ‘格致六條論’을 교육학적 관점에서 해석하는 데에 있다. 교육학적 관점에서 보면, 정약용의 ‘격치육조론’은 교육내용의 성격과 교사의 존재, 그리고 교사와 학생의 교육적 관계의 본질을 새롭게 설명하는 데에 기여한다. 정약용의 ‘격치육조론’에는 「大學公議」에서 상세하게 다루고 있는 ‘태학’과 태학에서 공부하는 ‘천자’의 의미가 배문(背紋)으로 자리 잡고 있다. 정약용은 격물치지를 육조목에 배속함으로써, 공부의 내용을 ‘천자가 사람과 만나 교섭하는 사태(人人相接之際)’ 속에서 가시화되는 행위의 원리로서의 효제자(孝弟慈)로 한정하였다. 천자(天子)의 자식은 태학에서 공부하면서 행위사태에서 행위의 원리를 포착하는 특별한 눈을 갖추고 그 원리를 자신의 행위로 구현하는 존재이다. 친민(親民)의 개념은 천자와 백성이 함께 효제자를 좋아하고 공유하는 상호의존적 관계를 보여준다. ‘격치육조론’에 의하면, 교육사태는 교육적 관계 안에서 지식을 생생하게 탐색하고 포착하는 핵심적인 공부사태에 해당하며 지식의 가치는 교육사태에서 창조되는 교사와 학생의 교육적 관계 안에서 정당화된다.

영문 초록

The purpose of present study is to interpret the meaning of Chung Yak-yong’s theory on the GeZhiLiuTiao(格致六條) from the educational point of view. In view of education, Chung’s theory on the GeZhiLiuTiao helps to understand the concept of ‘knowledge’ and ‘teacher’ as well as educational relationships between teacher and disciple. The meaning of the T’aihsüeh(太學) and an emperor(天子, Son of Heaven) who studied in T’aihsüeh, which is explained in detail in the 「Public Opinion on Great Learning」(「大學公議」), is intimated in the Chung Yak-yong s theory on the GeZhiLiuTiao. By assigning the ko wu chih chih(格物致知, investigation of things and extension of knowledge) to the system of the six particular steps(t’iao-mu, 條目), he limited the subject of learning to the Hsiao·Ti·Iz’u(孝弟慈, filial piety·fraternal love·affection) as the principle of conduct of behavior in while people transact each other(人人相接之際). The Son of an emperor(天子, Son of Heaven) is a person who learns tradition of conduct in T’aihsüeh, and shows it in his existence and conduct. The concept of the ch’in min(親民, intimating with the people) shows a ‘reciprocal-relation’ in which both the emperor and the people share Hsiao·Ti·Iz’u. According to the theory on the GeZhiLiuTiao, the educational situation is a core learning situation in which knowledge can be experienced vividly through educational relationships between teacher and disciple. And the value of knowledge is justified in the educational relationship created in the educational situation.
