국문 초록

이 글은 조선 전반기 불교와 유교의 심성론과 상호인식을 통해 철학적 유불회통의 내용을 밝히고 이를 통해 교육과 종교, 정치의 본질적 동일성, 그리고 수기와 치인의 의미를 구체적으로 이해하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 조선 전반기 유교인들과 불교인들은 건국 초기의 대립적 관계에서 벗어나 상호 접근의 단계를 거쳐 철학적 유불회통의식에 도달한다. 이들이 통찰한 철학적 유불회통의식은 불교의 공적영지와 유교의 미발지각 개념으로 압축된다. 공적영지와 미발지각은 모두 심체 자체의 본래적 지각활동성을 가리키는 개념이다. 철학적 유불회통의식은 교육과 종교, 정치의 본질인 심성함양활동의 획득과 표현을 종교성과 정치성의 의미와 관련하여 이해할 수 있게 해줄 뿐 아니라 치인을 ‘보장’하는 수기의 의미를 이해하는 데에도 도움을 준다. 수기는 심성함양활동이며, 치인(정치활동)의 핵심은 공심의 실현에 있다. 그러므로 치인(공심의 실현)은 한 사회나 공동체가 도달하는 심체의 보편성과 내재성에 대한 정신적 깨달음(수기)의 정도에 달려 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to clarify philosophical convergence between Neo-confucianism and Buddhism. Also, this essay purposes to understand clearly common essences of education, religion, politics and basic meanings of self-cultivating and people-governing. In early-middle Joseon Era, Neo -Confucianists and Buddhists are gradually approach each other and get to common insights, unlike previous attitude which they had criticized and excl uded their opponents strongly. What philosophical convergences did the two teachings have in common? It’s that there is Transcendental-Universal-One-Mind in every individual’s mind. At the same time, this Universal Mind has it’s own knowing and awa kening nature. The concept of ‘Unconscious Knowing&Awakening[未發知覺]’ or ‘Full-Emptiness-Spiritual-Knowing&Awakening[空寂靈知]’ are all involved Transcendental-Universal-One-Mind’s own spiritual energy. Based on these concepts, we readily understand not only the essencial mean ing of religion or politics from the viewpoint of Transcendental-Universal-Mind-cultivating theory, but also the implications of statement which is ‘self-cultivating guarantees people-governing’. Self-cultivating is engaged to former Mind’s own Knowing&Awakening energy. And the princ ipal contents of people-governing are the realizations of ‘Public-Mind[公心]’. Therefore, the degree of people-governing’s realization depends on the deg ree of self-cultivating communities’ spiritual achievements.
