국문 초록

근대시기 중국에서 일어난 불교학(불학)의 발흥을 어떻게 볼 것인가는 한국의 중국학 연구자들이 크게 주목한 분야는 아니었다. 그러나 중국정부가 현재 불교와 불교학의 진흥을 적극 지원하고 있고, 수많은 중국의 대학들에서 매년 적지 않은 수의 불교 관련 박사학위논문들이 출간되고 있다는 점에서 중국 근대불교학의 태동을 소홀히 해서도 안 된다. 특히 현대 중국의 불교학은 대체로 중국 근대불교학의 연장선상에 서있다는 점도 주의할 필요가 있다. 󰡔중국 근대불교학의 탄생󰡕은 이런 점에서 주목할 가치가 충분한 저서다. 그래서 중국역사에서 근대시기를 언제부터로 보아야 되는지, 중국 근대불교학의 발생에 일본불교학이 끼친 영향은 어느 정도인지, 중국의 티베트학을 어떻게 볼 것인지, 중국학자들의 불교학 연구방법론에 대해 검토할 사항은 없는지, 우리나라에서 이뤄진 근대시기 중국(불교)사상에 대한 연구 성과는 무엇이 있는지, 고전 한문 해석을 어떻게 하는 것이 보다 적확(的確)한지 등의 관점에서 [중국 근대불교학의 탄생]을 검토하고 고찰했다.

영문 초록

How to view the rise of Buddhist Studies in China during the modern period was not an area that Korean researchers of Chinese Studies paid much attention to. However, the Chinese government is actively supporting the promotion of Buddhism and Buddhist Studies at present, and many Chinese universities are publishing a number of doctoral dissertations related to Buddhism every year, so it should not neglect the birth of Chinese modern Buddhist Studies. In particular, it is also necessary to note that the Buddhist Studies of contemporary China is largely an extension of modern Buddhist Studies in China. The birth of Modern Buddhist Studies in China is a book worth paying attention to in this regard. Therefore, from the perspective of when the modern period would be begun in Chinese history, how much of the influence of Japanese Buddhist Studies on the development of modern Buddhist Studies in China, how China s Tibetan Studies would be viewed, is there anything to examine the buddhist research methodology of Chinese scholars, what are the results of research on the modern Chinese (Buddhist) thought in present-day Korea, and how to interpret classical Chinese texts is more accurate, I examined and analyzed The birth of Modern Buddhist Studies in China.
