관심중심수용모형을 통한 디지털 교과서 연구학교 사례 연구

국문 초록

디지털 교과서는 지난해 우리 정부가 발표한 스마트교육 추진 전략의 핵심 중 하나다. 향후 그 중요성이 한층 더해질 디지털 교과서가 교육 현장의 변화로 이어지기 위해서는 먼저 단위 학교 수준의 실천 과정에 대한 이해가 우선시되어야 한다(Hall & Hord, 2011). 이를 위하여 디지털 교과서 연구학교의 2년 간 운영 과정에 대한 사례 분석을 실시하였다. 분석의 틀은 교육 변화 이론 중 수용자를 중심으로 교육 변화의 패턴을 확인하고 진단해주는 관심중심수용모형(concernsbased adoption model)이었다. 먼저 가장 주된 변화의 수용자인 교사의 정서적 측면과 함께 실천적 측면을 확인하기 위해, 관심 단계(stages of concern)와 활용 수준(levels of use)을 분석하였다. 또한, 학교변화에서 중요한 역할을 하는 교장의 변화 촉진자 유형(change facilitator style)을 확인해보았다. 그 결과는 다음과 같았다. 첫째, 관심 단계(SoC) 분석 결과, 2년간의 디지털 교과서 연구학교 경험은 교사의 인식을 ‘비약적인 관심의 사용자(renewing user)’에 가깝게 변화시킨 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 활용 수준(LoU) 분석 결과, 교사들은 디지털 교과서를 ’일상’적으로 활용하는 ‘활용수준 ⅣA’부터 ‘활용 수준 Ⅵ 개선’에까지 이르는 행동을 보인 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 학교장의 변화 촉진자 유형(CFS)은 조직의 효율성을 중시하는 관리형(manager)인 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로 디지털 교과서 관련정책이 학교 변화로 성공적으로 이어지기 위해 필요한 고려사항을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The digital textbook is one of the promising initiatives of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology in South Korea. Thus, this study examines the concern and action of teachers who have participated in using digital textbook for two years. Applying the concerns-based adoption model(CBAM) of change, three questions guided the investigation: (1) What changes in stages of concern(SoC) about digital textbooks arose during two years? (2) How did levels of use(LoU) evolve? (3) Which change facilitator style(CFS) did they think was most highly related with their principal? To fulfill the research goal, one elementary school, the digital textbook pilot school, was selected. This study utilized these: (1) the stages of concern questionnaire(SoCQ), (2) the LoU branching interview, and (3) the change facilitator style questionnaire(CFSQ). The results of the study indicated that, at first, the majority of teachers concerns evolved from the self or task stage toward the impact stage. In LoU, most teachers achieved beyond the refinement level of use. They thought that their principal s change facilitator style was the manager. Therefore, to support the implementation of digital textbooks, differentiating interventions are needed based on the changes and variables of teachers concerns and actions. Limitations and implications for further research are also presented.
